Feb 5, 2013 7:47 AM in response to Coucharby Sk8Dreams,Couchar - You cannot downgrade without voiding your warranty. Document and go to Apple store for a replacement phone.

Feb 5, 2013 9:44 AM in response to Sk8Dreamsby sbailey4,Downgrading will not void your warranty. However you cant downgrade anyway. Once Apple releases a new version they stop signing all older versions after a few days so you cant downgrade if you want to. But if you could it would not void your warranty. There are millions of devices out there that never upgrade their iOS and are still under warranty if within the 1 yr standard or 2 yr AppleCare warranty.

Feb 5, 2013 1:42 PM in response to sbailey4by Sk8Dreams,sbaily4 - IF you could downgrade without jailbreaking, then it would not void your warranty, but since that's not possible..... I did not want to use the JB word here

Feb 5, 2013 1:43 PM in response to Tom Apple iPhoneby Sk8Dreams,Tom Apple iPhone - I doubt it's that simple. I've read every post in this thread, and in a few others also, and had one of the problems myself. This is complicated!

Feb 5, 2013 3:13 PM in response to tobifsby JanSKay,Finally bit the bullet and traded in my iPhone 5 at Apple yesterday. All is connecting as it should with the new iPhone 5 thus far! Of course like many of you the connection issue couldn't be replicated at the store so I got their 1 time curtesy swap out, even though I took evidence of my connections (and lack there of) and proof of several other devices not having trouble connecting consistantly to my router. If it occurs on this iPhone I deal with Apple's 1 time swap policy, but I pray I will not have to hassle with it and all will continue working!

Feb 5, 2013 7:19 PM in response to JanSKayby sbailey4,So what is that 1 time swap deal? If the phone "appears" to work they will only swap it once? If its actually broken is does not apply? I mean if you have a 1 yr warranty on the device dont they have to make sure it works for at least a year? Does the warranty continue from orig purchase date on the swap out?

Feb 5, 2013 7:28 PM in response to tobifsby sbailey4,This has been published in another document before but not really highlighted. Apparently Apple has determined it needed to be reiterated as they published a new document today. Could explain why when folks go to the Apple store their device magically work .

Feb 6, 2013 1:09 AM in response to tobifsby umagaur,After upgrading from 5.1.1 to 6.1 with my 4S WiFi was not working with my Router at home. In my company WiFi works. I tried reset network, reset iphone as a new device all without success.
The Phone connect to the router and after a few seconds the connetion was death.
What worked for me was changing my Router Setiings from auto (b/g/n protokoll) to manuell g/n protokoll only.

Feb 6, 2013 8:52 AM in response to sbailey4by Sk8Dreams,sbailey4 - I have not heard of a 1 time only swap policy. In fact, I've read several posts here from users who have received replacements more than once when the first try did not resolve the problem.

Feb 6, 2013 9:48 AM in response to German123by StephPDX,1-time swap? Don't let anybody tell you that. Last night I received my SIXTH replacement iPhone 5. Yes ....6th.
My 4th phone was the charm until the phone itself started to fail (all buttons, screen touch, screen brightness, etc.) inside of 90-days. I was given a 5th replacement phone last Saturday. That same night I realized that the phone was another brick. It wouldn't connect to the internet while on Wifi. I tried various locations with public wifi as well as my work router over the course of 3 days. Same results. I restored the phone as new and it still would not connect. I recorded multiple videos and took countless screencaps to prove my case because the phones always work at the Apple Store. Always!
So I called Apple Care and was transferred to a Senior Advisor who looked at pages and pages of notes from my last 5 swaps. He was very understanding and authorized another replacement. But of course, once at the Apple Store, the phone worked like a charm. The Genius NICELY said "sorry, I'm not giving you another phone." He didn't care that I could prove it soundly. He didn't care about this forum. He said he could make it work fine, so I was stuck with it. I wouldn't hear of it! I asked NICELY to speak to his supervisor. He went in the back to get him and was gone for almost 10 minutes, but came out with a replacement phone instead. He NICELY said he didn't agree with his supervisor at all but that he was told to replace the phone anyway. He "very begrudgingly" did so (his words). Again, he was very nice about it, so I have to hand it to him. He really didn't want to give it to me and hated that he was overruled.
So, don't let them railroad you. If your phone doesn't work after what you paid for it, they need to keep replacing it until you are happy. Especially when it comes to this Wifi issue. It is HUGE and they sincerely need to figure it out. Until then, they need to keep replacing the duds. Period!
Thankfully this SIXTH iPhone5 works like a charm!!
