Mar 19, 2013 8:14 AM in response to tobifsby CKFROMSG,Conducted more tests with iP4 and iP5 with iOS 6.1.2, 2.4GHz WiFi router.
Although Speedtest or FCC test showed good connection and speed, the ma'il apps always failed on Yahoo and Ymail accounts. When I recreate the Yahoo account in mail apps, it gave error on apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com. But Yahoo mobile enail apps worked fine. When I added live email to mail apps, it worked.
PINGing to apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com got respond not from apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com or IP address but some unknown DNS name.
I am suspecting FW might have rejected slow response sites or ignored slow responses, and resulted the apps always think the site is not reachable.
Strangely, 5GHz time capsule wifi router do not have such issue with mail apps.

That's something that I noticed as well with my 'broken' iPhone5. The 5Ghz had less issues than 2.4Ghz (WNDR3700). But unfortunately the reception range of a 5Ghz router is way less compared to 2.4Ghz.

Mar 19, 2013 8:54 AM in response to Gnavicksby Crack O'Deal,I posted it earlier here it this discussion. The video I made demonstrates it very well. I used this method to demonstrate the issue to the engineer in authorised service company. There were no arguments in return from the engineer.
The formal description in replacement form is "Unable to locate a nearby Wi-Fi network"

What is the production date of your iPhone ? (http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html)
Although my problems are solved by a replacement model, still curious if the issues are only occuring until a certain production date or so.
(My faulty one was from 2012-week 44, the fixed one is from 2013-week 10)

Mar 19, 2013 12:09 PM in response to sverzijlby Gnavicks,Sverzijl,
I've had three replacements with no slow WiFi fix yet. Here are the production dates:
- 2012 week 38 (original on 10/1/2012)
- 2012 week 48 (replacement on 1/29/2013)
- 2012 week 50 (replacement on 2/6/2013)
- 2012 week 49 (replacement on 3/11/2013) <-- Apple Genius said they just got this one in "new"
The NEXT time I go in I'll be using that website to reference the production date.

Mar 19, 2013 12:25 PM in response to Gnavicksby MrLuxuryYacht,Funny. Mine is week 39. Not even sure anymore WHAT issue I have, if any. But I seem to be able to "fix" it by forgetting the network and relogging in.
