Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

    I cleared this issue. I called my father and he said that he had not shown the invoice in the apple store, iPhone had been identified by IMEI. Good luck!

    Guys,

     

    anyone knows what could be the specific reason of the low / bad reception of Wifi on the Iphone 5.

     

    i am located at a country without a local Apple Store.

     

    after discussing this over a month with Apple Senior Reps. at Ireland i was told that becuase i brought my new iphone from another country our local mobile companies wont accept the iphone 5 for service & inspection (even under the basic limited apple warranty).

     

    i am reading allot about replacing the Iphone 5 Wifi Antenna which could be the real reson for all of these problems.

     

    any suggestions?

    and for now really - together with the battery drainage and no news from apple regarding the wifi Fix (iOS 6.1.4 or even iOS 7.x) My new Iphone 5 is no more than very expensive paper weight / Door Stopper ..

     

     

    I've switched back to Samsung Galaxy S2...

     

     

    never believed that i will have to suffer this with my new first ever apple iphone.

    I'm sitting in my room looking at no wifi on my ip5 I'm looking at wifi on my old 3GS . This is my third ip5 after the other 2 just couldn't stay connected to wifi. This is starting to **** me off cause now this one is starting to do the same thing . Very poor wifi signal . 3 bars on my old 3GS one to zero on ip5 grrrr. And the update did not help. I used to be proud of apples products till this happened. I'll be phoning Rogers about my issue and perhaps get a different make altogether.  3 phones in a couple months not good. My 3GS loves me more .

    megachiller, i feel your frustration.  i just got a new iphone 5 last week and immediately noticed it would not connect to wifi regularly and when it did it would get one bar.  i compared it to my wifes iphone 4s and her phone's wifi was full strength.  i took it to the apple store and they saw the weak signal and switched it out and gave me a replacement.  took it home and so far it has been working.  so give it another shot and take it back for another one.  the law of averages will hopefully be on your side and you will get  a good one!

    My second iPhone 5 had wifi which was good until it wouldn't connect to any website or app. Close wifi turned back on then would work for few min. Then same thing wouldn't load anything again. My 3GS worked fine. So I tryed again then it worked for few mins then same thing. Went to a different wifi and same thing but my 3 gs worked lol so I returned it after a few days and this is my third one. Now this one seems fine except it doesn't like have a strong signal. My 3GS seems to out perform it on that. They say iPhone 5 is supposed to be stronger well its not. Lol kinda disapointing actually.

    well that would explain a lot!  since buying my new iphone 5 on April 11 I am on my 2nd replacement.  so far this one seems to be okay for now.  solid wi-fi.  my theory is that when Apple receives a defective iphone 5 they ship it out to get fixed with the correct equipment and then it is given to the customer as a replacement phone and they conitnue to say they have not heard of this issue and you must have a rare defective phone.  i actually heard some apple employees at the store telling people that and when i said there were hundrends of posts about this defect on the apple support forum they told me i should not believe everything i read online and that how come people never ever post how good the phone is!

    Again Apple deleted my last Message here from yesterday evening ....

     

    My messaged was shown here yesterday on Page 281.... and now how nice we have only 280 pages...

     

    just wrote that i've ordered a new OEM Iphone 5 WIFI Flex Cable to try and fix the WIFI Prob. myself so i can sell it and buy a new Samsung Galaxy S4 (go back to happyness... and simple life)

     

    also Wrote that between the Battery drainage Prob. and the Wifi Prob. what is more annoying is the complete silence from apple...

    my phone has the same short range problem, for the first time i went to the apple store, the tech wont give me a replacement because he said he sees nothing wrong with my phone and refer me to call the apple care for how to fix my router....then the second time i went back to the apple store with snap shots showing i have the same problem at starbuck and the tech didnt say anything and order me a replacement right away...the replacement works fine now but i noticed the os is 6.1.2 on the replacement, and now it askes me to update to 6.1.3 but i dont think i will for now....apple techs are mostly poor trained low income employees so dont expect they have the knowlege to help you out...
