May 2, 2013 12:22 PM in response to tobifsby tiagojscampos,Hey guys. I just updated my iphone5 to iOS 6.1.4 and at least for now it is performing really nice!
I bought it in the first weeks after its launch and had really bad wifi connection since begin.
I took it to the store but they said they didn't detect any issue. Probably they tried it near to a wifi router. Comparing to an iphone 4s my wifi was complete crap!
Let me know if 6.1.4 fixes it for you.

May 2, 2013 12:38 PM in response to tiagojscamposby MrLuxuryYacht,There's no way 6.1.4 fixes the wifi. They don't even claim it does. IF it does, they've done it stealthily or we simply needed to go through the process of installing an upgrade to flush garbage code out.

doubtful, the warranty is only good in the country of purpose...but it's worth a shot.

May 2, 2013 4:42 PM in response to tobifsby DeclanFromNL,So Apple can find resources to do a release to update the audio profile for the speakerphone in 6.1.4 but cant spare some time to fix the wifi? Seriously?

It's not that simple. My WiFi is also Apple, and my WiFi works great. Maybe a different batch or something -- my mac address is very different from yours, but still says it's Apple.

May 2, 2013 6:38 PM in response to tobifsby Megachiller,Well wat would apple do if we all returned at once ? Lol I thought I finally got one that works, but right now I'm havn so much grief with wifi all together. First off my family has ip5 with little problems iPads and ip3gs with no problems. Mine however seems to be a constant issue. I'm the only one with the 16 in the house so I figure it's gotta be that model. I phoned apple about the issues with wifi and all I can get from them is to restore it to factory settings and try again and let them know. I usually can connect to wifi but nothing seems to work. No Facebook no Internet nothing. My 3GS is fine so are everyone else's. this would be the second one out of 3 that has this issue. My first one just kept dropping not would connect at all. I like how apple is so easy to use but I'm so angry. My carrier told me apple should be sending me a brand new phone. I've already had one then I get 2 refurbished ones after. My point is if ip5 is so much better than why is it so weak. Even on 3G it's slower than my iPhone 3GS. Honestly this phone is crap. I'm not happy how weak the wifi is. My router is fine strength is awesome but not on my ip5. I'm loosing hope and why should I spend my time on something that is failed just to track settings etc, it should be ready to use right away. Hrs of bs just to think its the phone and nothing else. Not everyone is a computer geek to figure this hardware issue out. Its just so disapointing.

May 2, 2013 6:44 PM in response to tobifsby Megachiller,Oh ya I forgot, if I want wifi to work I have to turn it on and off so it will work for 5 mins just to stall again
-
May 2, 2013 6:47 PM in response to Megachillerby MrLuxuryYacht,Yup. I get that. Worse, over time wifi will slow to a crawl, not just stop working. That's when switching Airplane Mode on and off wil get wifi back to full speed.

May 2, 2013 11:20 PM in response to tobifsby Old Macs,Well, this is lovely. Update to what I wrote earlier, I deleted the IPSW from my iTunes library folder in the Finder, and had iTunes download a fresh copy from Apple's servers (couple weeks ago with 6.1.3). Restored from a backup of my original iPhone 5, worked great! Every now and again, it would slow down, but running the SpeedTest app kicked it right back into shape (kinda odd), but it worked!
Then iOS 6.1.4 drops.
"Yes finally! Maybe Apple has fixed the problem!" I plugged in my iPhone to iTunes (since OTA updates had problems too). Downloaded the IPSW, backuped my iPhone, and updated the firmware. Also noticed Carrier software was upgraded from Verizon 14.1 to 14.2. Sat down to watch the iSteve documentery on Hulu (which the story was mostly unture by the way), about 30 minutes in, "Buffering..." me: "***?!?!?!". Hop into the SpeedTest app "No Internet Connection". Used the SpeedTest app on a friends iPhone 4 (same time, same network), got 17 down and 4 up.
I'm really getting ticked off with this. I had my iPhone working thanks to a voice in the back of my head telling me to delete the IPSW, and now iOS 6.1.4 has ruined everything.
I say we all send an email or letter to Tim Cook. Eventuly, we will get through to Apple and Tim. Maybe then something will get done.
