Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Same problem here: My iPhone 5 does not connect to wifi. The strange Thing is, that it worked yesterday. Same Router, no changes in my iPhone-settings. Broken overnight. And the next Store is an hour from here :S

One additional note.  It appears that the range while on the 5GHz band is my main issue with my iPhone 5.  If I am close enough to the router then everything works fine with WPA2 encryption.  I do not ever have any issue with my iPad while on the 5GHz band, but it is a larger device with what I would assume is a larger antenna.  I cannot compare with my iPhone 4 since it only runs on a 2.4GHz network with no issues.  So for now I will just keep my iPhone 5 connected to my 2.4GHz Network and wait to see if there is a software resolution to this.

Recently upgraded to iOs 6 and all my problems started. I get a Wi-Fi connection on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4, but the connection is extremely slow and sporadic and is virtually useless. Trying to log onto this site with my iPad was impossible, so aborted the attempt and am now using my PC (same router, with high speed connectivity and no problems). None of the apps that connect via WiFi work properly. So basically, since the upgrade, my iPad is useless to me and my iphone only makes calls... I am so sorry I upgraded. Do I try downgrading to iOs 5 (seen a few sites on how to attempt this) or wait patiently for Apple acknowledge the problem and do something about it? Otherwise, my iPad will make a very expensive placemat...

cant understand why Apple come up with updates and it always turns out that their updates make everything else out of date and unusable!

best thing to do is wait for their fix for ios6 . I have only decided to get a refund on my iphone 5 as I am within my entitled return period as I bought online from apple but as and when they fix things only then I may buy the

iphone 5 again but as it stands they will pick up from my home in a couple of days and then just refund me.

Will stick with my IPHONE 3Gs as no problems with that and yes old things are the best!

    Good luck all! take care!

    Hello all,

I had the same "slow wi-fi" issue with my iPhone 5. Took it to the Genius bar. The guy instructed me to restore the phone back to original settings and then set up as a new phone (compared with restoring from iCloud). I followed his instructions ... ended up still having a slow wi-fi problem. Went back to Genius bar yesterday and they replaced the phone. Last night I ended up having the problem on the NEW phone as well.

My current solution: In an attempt to fix it in frustration, the first thing I tried was "forgetting" my two wi-fi networks on the phone (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) and put them in manually by typing in the network name and password. This worked for me.

After confirmation that my phone's wi-fi was still working, I took an extra step and set up my router to use static DNS servers ... an idea that was prompted from this article: http://osxdaily.com/2012/09/27/iphone-5-wifi-problem-fix/

    Good luck out there.

Yet another Apple product I have purchased and does not work out of the box. Upgraded on Friday and not been abe to maintain a wifi connection for more than a few minutes. Loose the connection every time the phone sleeps. Does not remember networks, does not join a network even with the right password AND even if I can get connected to my router I get download speeds of 0.5MB on my 60 MB broad band connection. Nice one Apple another triumph. No doubt in a few weeks time we will have a statement from Apple saying it is all the users fault for not wearing the right colour pants whilst holding their phone and in a couple of months we will get a firmware fix. Time to trade in for a samsung I think.

haha, couldn't say better ;) I'm sure we customers are just too stupid to use their awesome iOS6 or we hold the device not correct :D More then 100'000 views of the WiFi issue thread but still no comment from Apple. Ya mate, time to change!

Thanks for the video because what it shows is that your router has MAC filtering on. There is not a problem with the iPhone, the conect and disconnect is what happens when a devices MAC address is not allowed to connect to the router.

Check to make sure that your iPhone 5 MAC address is set in your MAC Filtering. So you know, MAC filtering really offers little security. What you video shows is exactly what happens when s device's MAC address is not on a typical consumer router's MAC Filtering LIST.

Enter the iPhone's MAC address into your filter list or consider turning off MAC FILTERING. There is some debate of the usefulness of MAC filtering so you have to decided for yourself. Today, MAC spoofing is easy.

This video shows that the iPhone's MAC address is not in the MAC Filtering Enable User LIST. Consult your Router's Manaully about how to set MAC filtering options properly.

It would also be helpful to show or let us know what router it is, is it an Apple Router (Access Point/AP)?

As I have said in serveral post, there is not iOS6 WIFI issue or iPhone5 WiFi Issue.

I restored my iPhone 5 to my iPhone 4S's backup - and what I have seen is each day when I return home from work - the phone attaches to my WPA2 Wi-Fi on my Airport Express successfully, but I cannot browse anywhere or do anything Internet related.  I turn off Wi-Fi in settings and turn it back on and then it begins to work again no problems for the rest of the evening.  Absolutely no problems when using it via LTE or 3G (Cellular) just on Wi-Fi, and so far I have only noticed it while at home.

I am having the same problem despite trying the solutions posted by Apple. Very poor update, for sure. Is Apple the new RIM? Wonder if RIM will be back when it releases its new system in 2013?

Forget about solutions, I just answered the TECNIO Service, and their solution is that they have no problem. He tells me to update my router and solved.

It means I'll have to go ask the router to businesses and jobs where I go to update them all if I have a iphone 5.

Solution: I devulevo Tuesday and I want my money.
