How can I downgrade my iPad3 back to 5.1 iOS version?

Is ther any wy legally downgrade my iPad's iSO6 version back to iOS5.1.

I saw some videos on youtube where it's possible to restore 5.1 iOS version from some backup image with iTunes, but I don't have any backups made. Or is it also illegaly?

I am from the UK and the End-User agreement does not stop me modifying my software, and doesn't stop then rejecting my iPad for repair, if something did happen to it!
