iOS6: How can I view maps of USA when I'm not in USA (ex. in China)?

I am a user of iPhone in China, and I've just recently upgraded to iOS 6. The map data of China is provided by AutoNavi, and it only has the map data in China, as I really have the need to see maps of the USA and Canada but I couldn't. I've tried on 3GS, iPhone 4, 4S, and all of them have the same problem. I think Apple should provide a switch for map data provider for users like me who needs map data of various countries. It hasn't been a problem on the previous Google Maps. Or maybe there is really a switch for that that it is just me who hasn't found it?

Thank you. I've already known about this method as soon as I upgraded my iPhone, but it's so complicated to execute. At least, using VPN isn't a perfect solution. And I don't really see Apple Maps with AutoNavi to be any better than Google Maps. The app made by AutoNavi (which is available on App Store) is even better than what Apple has done to intergrate AutoNavi's data, in my opinion.

Therefore, still looking for a better solution from Apple and/or Google Maps on the App Store.
