Same thing happened to me and I checked to see if I had the latest version of iTunes...I didn't You have to have version 10.7. I usually get a notification of an iTunes update, but didn't this time. Downloading now...

That was one of the first things I tried, but I have 10.7 already so that didn't work.

Happened to me as well. Back up your phone before hand. I had to restore my iphone, then restore it to my backup and it auto-loaded ios6.
took a little longer, but lost zero data and got the update and everything works great now.

I got the upgrade yesterday on the iPad and iPhone. Also got the upgrade for iTunes. iTunes found the iPad but I got fatal errors on the phone and it could not sync. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled and now it recognizes the phone. There must be something wrong with the update. Apple, get off your butts and fix it. Try reinstalling iTunes from scratch.

Go to itunes and select no sync of photos, then sync...worked great
Now Apple will have to fix it of course

Man I am having the same issue. I try to sync and get an error message basically saying it does not recognize the apps. I am going to try and contact support.

Here's what worked for me: (I've had to do this a couple of times, but it seems to work).
From iTunes on my PC I selected My Phone from Devices
At the top of the page I chose Apps
I randomly moved a couple of apps around on the computer, and hit Apply (my goal was to see if it would change anything on my phone).
It went through the motions, and moved the apps on the phone.
Then, I tried to sync again.
I don't know why, but it did.
Before this worked, I had tried restarting the computer, changing the USB port from PC to phone, shutting down the phone and restarting, and none of that worked.

After installing the 6.0, my iphone 4s is not synching w/Outlook 2001 (14.2.4) on my 10.7.5 Macbook Pro. I've tried:
-all different configurations when 'resynching'

I was having the same problem and restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service and got it going again!
