Iphone 4 Locked to Orange UK

Hi, i recently purchased an iphone 4 which is locked to Orange UK, however after checking with apple i got to know that the contract for the phone has expired and in order to get the same unlocked i will have to get in touch with orange. So, i called up orange and they were asking me for the orange mobile or customer id no, which i dont have. I tried convincing them for the unlock irrespective of the amount which would be charged. But they are just not ready to do so.

So i wanted to know if there is any other way my phone could be unlocked, I have been without a phone for almost 2 months now. PLEASE HELP.

Sorry, no. Like most carriers, Orange will only unlock for current/former customers. It is what it is, & no one here can help you, nor can Apple.

In dat case, is there any way i can find the mobile no thru the imei no, coz i am sure that since the phone was under contract apple or orange would be having a record for this.

Had same problem I have to register an orange sim for 3mth then they will unlock it for 20 quid

thanks for the revert. But in my case i am in India and the fone was gifted to me. And i had no clue that i was being made a fool.

I tried speaking to orange UK and they were asking me the details of the phone actual owner (like orange mobile no or cust id ) which i dont have and also even if i am agreeing to pay the unlocking fee to orange they are not ready to help me.

Could there be any other way out..!!!

Fly to the UK, sign up for service with Orange, activate your phone on their network, pay for three months, then request your phone be unlocked. Fly back to India when done.
