iPhone 5 32GB rattle

nothing to worry about, its the isight camera I believe. my 4s has had this rattle since day one and I've read that many other people have it as well, it appears to be normal.

My 64GB does the same - sounds like it might be happening to all of them.

32g iPhone 5 with the same rattling. Not very good assembly IMO

Do Not worry about this rattle, it is the VIBRATOR MOTOR, this motor has a top part which is moving freely even not in used, so it is NORMAL to rattle when shaking.

My new iPhone 5 has a bigger rattle, I think they forgot to glue the battery to the housing, so when I shake the phone I feel a very big and heavy part moving inside. This is a potential hazard, so I will return/exchange for the new one soon.

My 16 GB IPhone is doing the same thing, i think i will need to take it in just to make sure. My sisters does not have the issue. Looks like the assembly was bad.

Exact same 'issue' here.

Now I just need to decide which camp I am in - is this a 'normal' noise or a sign of shoddy assembly.

If I settle in the first camp, then I need to call AppleCare and cancel the replacement. If the latter, I sit and wait.

And, on that note, how long is the wait realistically likely to be?

Would they have unallocated units to cover replacing faulty ones, would they be repairing returns and sending these as replacements, or do I join the back of a long queue and wait the 4+ weeks that new orders are delayed?

something completely different to the rattle (which sounds like a tiny pin rattling) near the camera lens

I've got the same issue. Hope I can exchange it.

I have the pin rattle. I'm not hugely annoyed but I can hear something resonating when i'm on a call which is annoying! I feel they are connected...

Is anyone else experiencing that with their pin rattles?

i am on a black 5. but i'm glad it is not the battery ratlle. not sure if i should be happy or not! 😕

Mine rattles too, 'genius' in Apple store who controls the queue told me it was finr without me even having a chance to demo the rattle...unimpressed. Spoke to Apple on the phone and have made an appointment to see someone. Surely something so carefully engineered shouldnt rattle.

BATTERY RATTLE/THUD FIX (without opening it) - Apply pressure to the left hand side of the screen where the battery is, use the bottom of palm and apply gentle pressure up and down the screen, this will push the battery into the adhesive. DONE! (i dont know if its a permenant fix but it worked for me!!!!!!!!)
