Reinstate Google Maps or lose a loyal Apple user

I for one will not be upgrading my iPhone4 or iPad2 to iOS6 or getting a iPhone5 until Google Maps is restored as was. Apple should simply admit that it is has got it completely wrong by introducing a substandard substitute for the exisiting reliable, accurate and high quality mapping. If it wasn't broken there was no need to fix it. As a loyal Apple user, I am deeply disappointed and Apple risk losing my custom.

One feature is missing - and is a dealbreaker for me - the app doesn't give highway exit numbers. This is a terrible ommision and makes it near useless imo. The sky is not falling, but Apple should not have switched so hastily. If the app is a work in progress why not wait and release when it is ready instead of ticking off the base? This is a shame as the app overall looks and feels great.

Yea honestly I don't see a problem in trying to play catch up on google maps but if apple want to pull a stunt like this they should do it in their own time not ours. The maps app is an absolute joke it is truely embarassing and should not of completely replaced google maps until it was in a better state by this.

Please hurry up and approve the google maps app, this is highly embarassing.

It's obviously your choice as to whether you leave Apple or not, however, that decision should not be based on the loss of a map application - just think of the problems you are likely to jump into if you go down the Android route! Wait for the Google Maps app to becomes available and go for that with iOS 6.

The worrying thing is that Apple seems to have based its decision to jump to an alternative map application on a financial / corporate disagreement with one of its suppliers rather than providing a service to its loyal customers... Is this the model for the future? I wonder where it will end?

I was on the verge of buying an iPhone 5 when I heard about the Apple Maps deficiencies. I must admit I was psyched for Maps and had assumed that it was a very high quality offering. I was way too optimistic.

Now I know I can use Waze for GPS nav for free or TomTom for $40 but neither of them is as good at finding places as googlemaps.

Now I'm keeping my iPhone4s, refusing a battery-boosting iOS6 upgrade and wondering if I should just get a 4.8" android phone with jelly bean or wait to see if gmaps pops up in the app store.
