how can I get back the lost screen savers that disappeared when going from OS 10.7 to OS 10.8.2?

On my 27" iMac, I switched from OS 10.7 to OS 10.8.2 and lost the Spectrum screen saver. Aside from - WHY!?! - how can I bring back, re-aquire, or otherwise restore our favorite screen saver?

Will it be as simple as retrieving it from the Time Machine Back-ups?

I read through the post you linked to. I didn't see anything that applied to the .qtz screen savers. I did try to verify permissions and repair permissions for what I did - but to no avail. My Lion (10.8.2) is bootable and I'd like to give it the boot. Along with the otherwise minor annoyance of loosing a few screen savers - it broke my Aperture libraries and brought to my attention that I was a version behind in my VMware Fusion. Off topic, I know, but I hate loosing 200 features to gain their new 200 features (hyperbole much ;-) )

I replied to the other thread with the specifics of my troubleshooting, it isn't additional pictures or photo sets that I want to add. It is the Spectrum.qtz screen saver that I want back. It is my daughters night light. No other screen saver has the same effects as the Spectrum has.

Any additional help would be appreciated.

Same boat as you and SOLVED.

I went and found the Spectrum.qtz file from an old install.

I copied it to the current install in the same folder /system/library/screen savers

I changed all permissions to read and write

I took a screensaver I didn't ever use and renamed it with .bak at the end of its name.

I renamed Spectrum to the name of the on I changed.

Pick that screensaver and it will use the Spectrum screensaver even though it now has a different name.
