How do i connect to an existing caldav calendar in iOS 6?

After updating to iOS 6, one of my caldav accounts was lost, now I can't add it again.

When I add a new caldav account in iOS 6, it creates a new calendar folder 'in' the existing one, instead of using the existing folder.

Adding to the problem is that my iPhone and my iPad create their own folders, and don't see the ones created by the other, so there is no way to sync them.

I have EXACTLY the same problem.

The 3 existing calendars on my Synology CalDAV-Server are recognized and synced by all my Macs and an older iPhone 3GS still running on iOS 5.

After upgrading to iOS 6, my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 show the issues Arney1 discribed, as these two clients create two folders inside my calendar folder on the Synology Disk Station instead of mounting the 3 existing calendars in iCal.

I believe, this is a bug in iOS 6. Is there a workaround?

If anyone can help, please reply to Guido.Brenke@mac.com.

Best regards.

Yes, it's the same problem I have!

After updating my iPad 3 and my iPhone 4 to IOS 6 I also noticed this bug. All other IOS 5 devices and serveral PCs with calDAV-Clients running fine. I attempt to find a solution (renaming folders, recreating all CalDav-shares on the NAS etc.), but it seems to be that there is no workaround.

I think that we should post this issue to Synology too.

I have the same problem - every item I try to add a new entry it deletes immediately and no CalDAV items from the server show up on the device. My IOS5 iPhone is working correctly so this has to be a bug in IOS 6.

None-Apple devices are all still working quite happily as well.

I have submitted a bug report so hopefully they will look into it ASAP.

Makes the phone useless to me - a real deal breaker business wise.

I have a similar problem!

The calendars are still there but they have an incorrect name (the login name is used instead).

I can change the name in iOS6, but after a while this correction will be reverted automagically.

It has been amazing me since at least 15 years now that calendaring apparently is so difficult.

I still think it's no 'rocket science' at all and can only imagine that the topic is not 'sexy' enough to attract capable developers.

Same problem on iPad and iPhone. I entered my User Name into the description field on my iPad and it then logged in successfully. After this "validation" phase, I could go back and reset the description to a name of my choosing. It seems this is a bug in the account setup/validation routines and not general login.

It was initially working just fine after my iOS6 upgrade and only encountered the problem after changing my account password.

Similar problem -

Have been "stressing" the Apple hotline today (furtunately my AppleCare Plan still has remaining life... ;-))

for more than an hour, but they don't have a solution so far.

They mean it may be an protocol issue between the CalDAV Server and iOS,

because iOS now uses other cache options (...) ... so I should ask the supplier of the CalDAV Server

(I'm using the ownCloud CalDAV Server on a QNAP NAS)

Let's await iOS 6.1 ...

I've got the same problem with my Synology (dsm 4.0) and has made some tests.

As in above posts my IOS6 ipad made two sub dirs in my caldav calendar dir.

In the test I copied some of the latest .ics files from my "working" calendar dir in my diskstation to the new dir that my IOS6 ipad created and the calendar entry showed up on my ios6 ipad's calendar. Ok, so far so good, not optimal, but a workaround. I then created a new calendar in my IOS5 iphone and added the path pointing to the new dir (created by the IOS6 ipad) in the caldav dir on my Diskstation. The calendar entries didn't show. in theory it should work because it's only an uri. Maybe someone else has better luck.

Something else I noticed is that the ICloud calendar also shows up with two entries in the calendar. I only had one there before.

it has been issues with caldav at every IOS upgrade.... isn't there a quality assurance test...?

Hi all,

Fortunately, I was able to fix my problem with iOS 6 and CalDAV (-> see discussion message/19772549#19772549) - I'd be glad if this gives some of you a hint for your troubleshooting...!?

Just today, I have upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion and my (multiple!) calendars are working fine!

I'm using the CalDAV Server included in the open source project ownCloud -

works fine with the latest version of ownCloud, even with contacts via CardDAV...

It's a free tool running on any webserver incl. NAS'es providing an Apache/PHP like QNAP and Synology.

So, maybe exchanging the Synology CalDAV by ownCloud could fix your issues?

In the last months I have had to learn that CalDAV and CardDAV (and jus as the underlying technology WebDAV itself) obviously are quite "interpretative" from an implementation perspective (...) and not all solutions are strictly working accordingly the RFC requirements (even Apple doesn't 100% ...).

So it seems to be still "tricky" to keep such environments running...

I also use SmarterMail v10. They (SmarterMail) have issued a fix - which will be included in their next release. But you can ask sales for them to issue the interim version (v10.4) and then you can get your server upgraded. I have been running it for a couple of days and it has fixed my problem. Not sure if they have issued a fix for earlier than v10.

Does depend if you can get your mail server admins to do the upgrade that is.
