iPhone 5 click when pressing screen

Just opened my new iPhone and when looking it over I notice when I press down on the upper left corner of the screen there is a slight click as if the part is slightly loose. Just curious if anyone else has this? Not sure I really want to deal with the hassle of returns for something so minor.

Oh that's odd.

The Apple Stores around my area have 'replacement stock' which are brand new sealed in a different kind of box that contains only the phone and nothing else.

They switch over your phone for one of those and transfer the serial number and stuff.

My Genius Bar guy said a little bit of play in the panel is expected when you have glass and aluminium but I told him it's not happening on many of my other friends devices. Don't accept it if they tell you it's not major.

Anyway, good luck with getting yours replaced if you have this issue people!

FYI all, after resetting the screen, it was still loose and clicking so I took it back and they provided a new phone. Supposedly they stock up on service phones for replacement reasons like these. One annoying matter is that my new phone has a nick on the edge but didn't notice until I left the store. Apple's QC is a lot lower with the new iPhone than the past I've experienced.

I went to the apple store yesterday and the genius took my phone in to have it checked. After ten minutes of waiting he came back and said that there weren't any problems. They remounted my screen at the store (screws were kind of scratched so I knew they acutally took the thing apart). Right now it doesn't have any clicking sounds, hopefully that solved my issue!

I have a mirco scuff near the lightning port after going to the store, but its pretty unnoticeable so I won't be asking for an exchange.

I had the same problem on the lower right corner. It would click down when I pressed it, but it only happened some times. I made an appointment at the genius bar. They looked inside and said it was nothing major but they could not fix it. I asked for a another one and they replaced it for me from a white box. The new one does not do it yet. It feels solid now.

I have this issue with my iPhone 5. I've had the phone since launch day. It started clicking in the top left portion of the phone a few days ago. It comes and goes and it also seems to move around. At different times, it clicks in different parts of the display. Right now it's the bottom left.

Anyhow I took it to the Apple Store in Knoxville. The genius looked at me funny when I described the problem. Then she took it to the backroom "to open it up and tightens things up." She brought it back out and said there was nothing wrong and told me her iPhone 5 did the same thing and not to worry about it. It wasn't clicking anymore. Of course it started again just after leaving.

So, I'm wondering now if I should try another Apple Store since it continues to click in places. I'm in Huntsville this weekend and there is an Apple Store here. Has anyone had any luck getting this issue resolved?

I had the exact same situation. This is quite a weird problem. I've had my iphone 5 for around 3-4 weeks now and it was perfectly fine as of today when I this morning felt a clicking sound on the lower half of the phone. As many others have said it disappeared after a while but then returns every now and then. I personally think that there may be a correlation between the phone's propensity to make the clicking noise and cold temperature but I don't know. Went to the Apple store today and the guy said that his phone does the same thing and that I should book an appointment if the clicking noise ends up having an effect on the phone's functionality.

Sure, the phone works fine, but I don't get why it's starting to make this noise after 3 weeks and why problem comes and goes. Also, I haven't dropped the phone or anything either...

EDIT: I might also add that unlike some others, the screen doesn't move when this click noise happens, nore does the screen feel loose or anything. The noise is very faint as well.

I have iPhone 5,black,16GB. I am having the same problem. My phone screen is clicking on top left corner and top left part of touch screen. So i went to apple authorised service center. People over there said to me that it do not affect functionality of my phone so they won't replace it. It is really annoying to me. Because I have found other problems in phone. And every time they say that due to not finding any hardware problems so they won't replace it. They think that I am doing this only for replacement. But the thing is not that, I want my phone with all issues solved. If they repair it then even I don't have any problem. But they say that the replacement is the only policy. So I am asking for replacement. So all I am all trapped with imperfect iPhone after spending 45K.😟

I bought iPhone in July,2013. I got 1 replacement after a week for call sound distortion and noise issue(Robotic Sound As Well). I am facing same problem in this piece as well. But ther service center people are not ready to accept it. I am finding issue of phone heat up(Extreme Heat Up) while using cellular data. Even it heats up randomly. But they are not ready to accept it because they didn't find it(Do they really test Phone!).

I had given my phone in service center on 14th March, 2014(For This Screen Clicking Issue). Today I went there as they reported me to take my phone back as it is not an issue. But I didn't accepted the phone if I don't get replacement.

So please some one reply to my issue, whether I should get replacement for my phone or not.(At least for screen clicking problem!)

PS:- Why am I insisting for replacement is that this issue is generated itself. I have never dropped my phone till the date. Now if problem increases after warrenty, I will have to pay 10K for replacement!
