time machine slow in 10.7.5
Since updating to 10.7.5 using the Combo updater, Time Machine on my iMac seems much slower. Anyone else seeing this behavior?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5), iMac 21.5 in.; i5; iPad 32Gb iOS 5.

Sounds like that worked great.
However, according to the techincal support person I spoke with at Apple, there is a less "erasive" way to do this. They suggested:
1. Shutdown
2. Reboot while holding down the option key
3. Click on "Recover from HD"
4. Choose "Reinstall Mac OS X"
That should take about an hour, and re-install your original OS X version that shipped with your computer. They claim that this system re-install should occur without erasing data. Still, if it were me (and I haven't tried this yet), I would backup any recent files that I know I haven't backed up anywhere (manually click and drag onto flash drive or external drive), to make certain no data is going to be lost.
Knowing my luck, I'd lose data...I'm going wait for the apple fix.
The only way to temporarily fix this problem is to disable spotlight. I can't go back to 10.7.4 because I use Aperture and the new version requires 10.7.5. I wish I had know about the issue before. I'll just wait until a fix is out.

Reinstalling OS X will not erase any user data, no worries there.
I am not certain exactly what point version of Lion OS X Recovery will install though. If it's prior to 10.7.5 that's great, so after that download and install the Combo updater for 10.7.4 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524
Whether this is more or less cumbersome than restoring from an appropriate 10.7.4 Time Machine backup is a function of an individual user's backup practices.
Thanks for that. I am facing this same issue.
I am fed up with Apple messing up is some way or another with every update 😟
+1 same issue
no solution yet? ****...

How do I disable Spotlight?
At the shell:
$ sudo mdutil -s -a
will print the Spotlight status for all your drives. To disable it on your local drive /, do
$ sudo mdutil -d /
SLOW backup after i upgraded to OS Lion 10.7.5. It takes 9-12 HOURS to back up 3 GB. This is killing me.
Apple - are you listening?
Anyone - can you tell me if there is a work-around, or am i stuck with this SLOW backup? Help!
There is no workaround at the moment. I've disabled both Time Machine and Spotlight until Apple provides a fix.
Carbon Copy Cloner with two additional external drives come in handy for situations like this :/

Say what? "At the shell"? I don't speak the language.
Open the Terminal application from the Utilities.
We also have this problem, but on only one Mac out of about 16 that we updated to 10.7.5.
Same symptoms: slow, slow, slow Time Machine.
