time machine slow in 10.7.5

Since updating to 10.7.5 using the Combo updater, Time Machine on my iMac seems much slower. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5), iMac 21.5 in.; i5; iPad 32Gb iOS 5.

The /var/folders/* is working for me:

- Turned off Spotlight

- My daily backup (it was fast)

- Deleted /var/folders/* and "securely empty trash"

- Shuted down computer

- Turned on Spotlight (indexing in a couple of minutes, no more)

- Copied 1GB of info in a new folder

- Back up now in Time Machine and in a couple of minutes the back up was finished

Hopefully it works permanently! You never know!

Cheers.

I decided to take the plunge and do the /var/folders delete suggestion that Ramonf and Jskeen and others have been talking about. So far after the reboot, I restarted Spotlight and then did a 660 MB TM to Time Capsule backup with no stalling or problems (I watched the process through the system.log in Console).

I'm going to give it a real test later by importing some pictures off my Canon and then having it do the usual backup and see what happens. Hopefully that will go well... I'll keep you all posted.
