IOS 6 bluetooth issues - micro cuts on music

Apple moved to the BT 4 standard in iOS 6. There is nothing "wonky" about this. Some BT 2 drivers don't correspond to the BT standard and now don't work properly. Others do correspond to the standard and continue to work.

You won't get any changes from Apple so you will have to get your fixes from the suppliers of your equipment. Read my post about firmware updates from Dr Dre.

It doesn't explain why IOS6 works fine IF you turn the wifi off on the Apple device. The problem I am experiencing is in IOS6.

In a previous post, I noted that it looks like a conflict between BT and the WiFi chip locking into or losing a signal. My headset typically drops out when I leave the house, or when the phone picks up a stray network. This was NOT an isue on the same hardware (iPhone4s) with the previous release, so I doubt that this is a hardware problem with the phone. This thread reports so many different types of equipment with the problem (both old and new), that I can't see the answer of a generic "your headsets are bad" being the correct answer either.

Specifically, what should I ask Sony about to determine compatability?

I'm re-joining this thread after some time as an owner of redundant Dre Beats Bluetooth 'phones.I've read many 'fixes', none of which have worked and the manufacturer hardware stories which reminded me of the Apple supervisor who told me Apple could not be held responsible for the performance of third party equipment - equipment sold on their site. I return really to debunk the wifi theory.Check this out - see if it happens for you. I noticed that the skips/drop outs ALWAYS happened at the same time on any particular track which at first led me to reload the song from iTunes fearing an iTunes Match glitch. The skip continued at the same point in the track to the second and of course did not happen with wired 'phones. This implies that it has to be the Bluetooth signal unable to cope with certain frequencies or something (you will note that I'm no expert!). It IS iOS 6 - there can be no argument - not wifi - and if the third party hardware has been made ineffectual by Apple it is for Apple to sort it - they have by far the majority of my hard earned cash.

Fully agree with chrisfromhove. Actually I am facing issues in the streaming quality of ios6, no micro-cuts but a distorted signal (mainly on the right channel) when streaming to my in-car BT radio. I had this issue already with old iOS versions (don't remember which ones) but it was definitely OK with iOS 5 and now back with iOS 6. It is also not in every song and it also seems to me that it is related to the frequency mix of the respective song. Sounds weird but it's like that...

I worked fine in 5.1 as well, it was the 6.0 update that caused the micro stutter. I expect it to be fixed as well.

Now that I think about it, the microstutter never happens in my car either, and my car stereo is bluetooth 4. I have confirmed that turning off wireless does cause the stutter to stop happening, but it since it did not occur in 5.x then it cannot be a hardware issue.

Hello, same problem since IOS6 installed. Definitively it is Apple issue and has to be solved, and not by turning off wifi...

How can we have updated official answer from Apple ? will they fix it as concerns many customers, and when, or keep doing nothing and frustrate all those who were happy with there previous IOS5 version listening to music ?

imagine your car radio : you can only listen to it if your engine is turned off...

I have the same problem except I use iPad3 instead. The rest is the same gear: JBL Xtreme Onbeat and still I get micro-annoying-cuts.

Actually it's not an Apple issue.

IOS 6 implements Bluetooth 4.0. Bluetooth 4 is compatible with the Bluetooth 2 found on some older Bluetooth devices unless the Bluetooth 2 driver isn't written correctly. The problem some people are having is with bad Bluetooth 2 implementations. Other vendors's devices with correct Bluetooth 2 drivers aren't having any problems, for example, Jawbone, Toyota, lexus, etc.

Several vendors have already updated their Bluetooth 2 drivers to fix this error, Dr Dre (Beat), Pioneer, Nissan, etc.

Contact your vendor and see what they have/are doing about this.

JimHdk, you seem sure that the problem is the BT drivers in the non-Apple equipment, but I'm still not sold on that answer. I can't come up with a scenario where all of my bluetooth receivers are "receiving" microcuts that my iPhone isn't "sending".

Can you say why the same equipment works okay when I turn wifi off on my iPhone, if it has nothing to do with the iPhone? Does turning the wifi off somehow cause the iPhone to broadcast a different bluetooth signal?

And, has anybody gotten an official Apple response to this issue?

Well, the fact that numerous vendors have issued BT firmware updates or are working on them gives you a clue that there is a problem with some BT 2 drivers.

OK, iPhone 4S Version 6.0.1 (10A523) connected to Bluetooth speakes has the micro cutouts. I then tried my iPad2, same software version, same speakers, no cutouts.
