this just started to happen, either no Siri feedback ...no internet activity (while Siri is displayed) ... or the microphone doesn't even let me talk, it turns itself off after one second.

There are like a bazillion people acitivating their phones right now and they're all trying out Siri. One can only imagine that Apple servers are being bombarded and Siri needs a clear path to the servers to work. I'm sure once things calm down, Siri will be able to play with you. But right now, I would fully expect her to be resting up.
oh yeah you may be right, forgot about that, the iPhone 5 is out today ... those who were on a 4 or a 3GS are trying out Siri for the first time

It would help if you stated what country you are in, Siri has servers for region. Europe Siri doesn't run on the same server as the US Siri

Yeah I'm in UK, but I think the whole world is out. I used to change from UK to US and that'd confirm it was a local issue but that hasn't worked this time
yeah I already tried that, change from French to Eng/US ... assuming that changes the servers too... but yeah no joy with Siri ... anyway I'm sure it will be up again later tonight.

New iPhone 5 and my daughters 4s not getting siri to work, message the same 'can't take any requests at the moment'.
that's right, when you're patient enough to wait while the mic animation is spinning, you get the message that Siri cannot take any request...

Apple maybe utilising the Siri servers temporarily to share the workload of the iOS 6 download and iPhone 5 activations.
It may also just be that busy that there are lots of people using Siri and that the server requests are stacking and causing the app to time out
