Sep 24, 2012 5:51 AM in response to Tungningby BoomerHFP,Hey,
I had a similar problem to this, in that something happened during the update to iOS6 that put my iPad into recovery mode, and when I tried to restore it in iTunes I was recieveing the 3014 error message.
From what I've read, I think the 3014 message relates to iTunes not being able to contact the Apple verification servers, which in turn isn't allowing your iPad to restore.
I just persisted, and after a few attempts iTunes was able to contact the servers, and my iPad restored and updated normally. I've read on other forums that some users have had to try 20+ times before they were able to restor, so I think persistence is the key to this problem.
Hope you get it sorted!

Sep 24, 2012 8:46 PM in response to Tungningby kelek1,I also got a 3014 error when attempting to update my iPad to iOS 6, with it stuck in recovery mode.
I fixed the situation by logging in with a different Apple ID in iTunes. (Unfortunately, I have to juggle between two Apple IDs because I don't think there's a way to merge them yet.)

Mar 6, 2014 6:09 PM in response to Tungningby MC_MisterE,I got this error the first time I tried to restore my phone, but then I tried again maybe 10 or 15 seconds later after reading this thread and it worked fine. Persistence does seem to be one way to get this to work.

Apr 25, 2014 2:42 PM in response to Tungningby Milkus,Just to give some reassurance for those perservering with the 3014 error. It took me about 20 times before the restore worked. My Host file didnt need editing, I had the latest itunes. I just went wrong when upgrading to 7.1.1.
I tried everything - from unistalling my security, dropping my firewall, turning on/off...all of this was useless. I just THINK the URL/address that Apple was trying to use for the restore was experiencing heavy use due to a new release, though this isnt what is returned to the user. What got me back was sheer perseverence...nothing else.

May 26, 2014 5:34 PM in response to Tungningby john tango,Hi All,
I just resolved my 3014 problem which all started with my iPad mini 32GB iOS 6 to iOS 7.1.1.
At first I thought it had something to do with the available diskspace on the computer C: drive. So I made sure to housekeep all temp and interent temporary files. Empty the recycle bin to increase diskspace from 6.6 GB to 7.34 GB. I had a problem in the past where diskspace was chewed up big time by iTunes iOS devices' *multiple* backups - today iTunes only keeps a single backup for each distinct iOS device.
That did not work as expected but it did jogged my thinking cap and memory that perhaps the Apple ID which I had logged in had something to do with it. See, I had registered the iPad mini with Apple ID (A) and iTunes was logged with Apple ID (B). I merely ensure I logged out of Apple ID (B) and verified that Apple ID (A) was indeed the current Apple ID logged into iTunes.
Wah lah, the so called unknown error 3014 did not appear on the first attempt to perform iPad recovery after the latter method (above paragraph) was done.
Hope the rest of our iPad brothers and sisters having 3014 problem will find that distinct method to resolve this pain in the arse problem. Mine was just trial and error and not taken from any internet forum - I hope my entry here can be of help to those who have multiple Apple IDs on the same computer.
Best of luck people.

Jul 10, 2014 8:21 PM in response to BoomerHFPby E-Zim82,I had to disable my firewall on two separate occasions while it recovered/repaired/restored. iTunes was set to be blocked, but after the temporary firewall was disabled I was able to connect with the Apple Verification Server. Or check to make sure it's at least okay to pass through the firewall with an exception.

Nov 15, 2014 4:04 PM in response to Tungningby soloymi1,Error 3014 is definitely related to Firewall blocking the connection with Apple for software verification. Once I disabled it, update worked.
