Sep 21, 2012 12:03 PM in response to BDAquaby elistu,I run Disk Utility, it repairs a list of permissions, finishes, then Verify shoes all still need repair. This happened with 2 other 3rd party repairs, too. The log never changes. The iMac seems to operate well except this glitch.
The Apple "genius" never got the iMac to boot up with their net source and diagnostics were never used. He
surmised the system was OK.

Sep 21, 2012 12:12 PM in response to rkaufmann87by elistu,Yes , I've seen the "ignore SUID" article which only occured once in my case. No offense intended in my reply,
(depends on mind set), it was the most concise discription of my concern. Also the link was appreciated muchly.

Sep 21, 2012 1:08 PM in response to elistuby BDAqua,You can safely ignore repeat "errors/changes" after Repairing Permissions once, it has to do with Repair Permissions being a bit messed up in execution.

Sep 21, 2012 5:20 PM in response to BDAquaby elistu,This action seems as if the "Receips" folder is missing. If I reinstalled SL over existing SL would in replace anything missing? In this situation I can't ever know if First Aid is working or not - until the iMac becomes
disfunctional. All is well for now but for how long? Thanks for your reply.

Sep 21, 2012 5:29 PM in response to elistuby BDAqua,★Helpful10.4 & earlier used the pkg stubs in Library>Receipts for Repair Permissions, 10..5 used a combo of that AND a new Database method, 10.6 & up only needs the DB.
You can reinstall, or reinstall the big 10.6.8 Combo update, wouldn't hurt, but I doubt it will change this.
