Ok I tried everything that others had suggested but the only thing that worked for me, even tho it showed I had my phone on "vibrate on silent. Vibrate on ring." You might have changed something in ur settings without noticing. Go to settings> General>Accessibility>Vibration. And make sure that's on. I didn't even notice I had changed it around but that quickly fixed my problem. I hope this helps!

Hi,

my iphone 5 has started to vibrate again. I simply found this thread on this forum for an old iphone problem and it worked for me.

'the solution, as silly as it sounds, which seems to work, is to smack the phone with your hand. i believe the mechanism is getting stuck and this "loosens" it back up.'

It actually worked believe it or not. It took jus one smack on the palm of my hand not too hard and it started to work straight away. Try it to see if it works as it did for me, but if the vibration gets stuck again and doesnt work I will be going in to the apple store and replacing my iphone 5 for a new one like jurn23 did, but for now im ok as it has started to work.

Hope it works for everyone else

Thanks

Hello there,

I had a very similar problem with my iphone 5 only a week old. When I received a call while my phone was on silent the phone would not vibrate, even though "Vibrate on Silent" was on in the "Sounds" setting.

After rebooting and checking all the settings, I fixed the problem by resetting the settings:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Don't worry, this won't erase any contacts or other information, but you will have to reset your ringtones and other preferences. Obviously, be careful not to choose "Erase All Content and Settings".

Try this before wacking your phone like the previous poster mentioned. I wouldn't recommend hitting your phone at all if you have access to an Apple store. They are very helpful (in my experience) and most problems can be fixed right there. But I will admit I have fixed an old iPod (2nd generation) that had been broken for years by "the wack method." As a last resort, I gave it a good solid whack into the palm of my hand, and to this day, it works as good as new.

The vibration problem has not returned so far, I suspect it might have something to do with creating a custom vibration as this is a new feature.

My iPhone 5 will not vibrate.
