iTunes 10.7 will not recognize iPhone 5 (or 4 or iPad 2)

So, I thought I was going to get ahead of things in anticipation of my iPhone 5 arriving by backing up my 4, but discovered that after updating to iO6 yesterday, iTunes will not recognize my phone. I tried my iPad 2, also running iO6 and it doesn't work either. I literally just got my iPhone 5 fifteen minutes ago and iTunes can't even see that's it's plugged in. I just see the screen showing the connect to iTunes icons. So, now I can't even get my 5 set up because of iTunes. I have already posted to at least five other threads where people were having this same problem on older iDevices. Anyone else having a problem with iPhone 5? I am running Windows 7 64 bit. This just seems to be an iTunes problem at the moment.

I am having this problem, but on my Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.2 and iTunes 10.7. Both my iPhone 5 and my wifes iPhone 5 are not recognized in iTunes. Both our old iPhone 4S's come up just fine. Any other work arounds?

I have reinstalled iTunes, restarted both phones, and Mac. Still not recognizable.

EDIT:

Just tried the other cable from my iPhone 5 box, and it works fine. I then tried plugging the faulty cable straight into the wall, and it gets no charge. Faulty cable.
