Okay, weird. Just tried this again and it worked. Why didn't it work the first time, I wonder. Thank you!

I am having this problem, but on my Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.2 and iTunes 10.7. Both my iPhone 5 and my wifes iPhone 5 are not recognized in iTunes. Both our old iPhone 4S's come up just fine. Any other work arounds?
I have reinstalled iTunes, restarted both phones, and Mac. Still not recognizable.
Just tried the other cable from my iPhone 5 box, and it works fine. I then tried plugging the faulty cable straight into the wall, and it gets no charge. Faulty cable.

I also tried many options but then at the end it was "only" the cable!!!! FAULTY CABLE!!!
