I may work in the 'Outback' but live in newcastle, near sydney, representing a cool 8 million people in the region, in one of the worlds strongest economies. Our dollar kicks the greenback to **** at the moment, and is getting up there against the Euro, Yen and GBP. its not about the quantity of people, it's the quality thanks. I used it (apple Maps) in Paris and southern france a couple of weeks back, and its just a weak there. Im glad you pride youself on your points, it some achievement. I'll recommend Apple print you a badge. Keep on preaching genius.

You can not delete Certian Apps including Maps because Apple had them Built in so you can rather move it to a folder or you can just wait for it to improve on another IOS Update

If you want you can search up Maps on the App Store but im not sure how good they are because i dont ever have to use maps

Wait for the next update if you can but if this is an issue for you you can try downloading a Map App from the App Store

Best of Luck

Yer kidding right??? Apple maps suck! I used google maps several times a week and it was excellent. I've tried to use Apple maps 3 times and it was horrible! What is superior? If I'm not familiar with the area I use street view to orient myself so I know what I'm looking for. Apple will never have that. Addresses are popping up in the wrong city.

If you want to use Google maps google it and you can get it back on your phone.

Here is an interesting one. I tried to move Apple maps to a page far back in my phone so I wasn't bothered with it and put the Google Maps icon in the normal place. When I turned off the move feature the Apple logo appears like it does when your shutting off the phone and WA LA! The Apple crap app is back in its place. I just put the google map down on the tool bar.

If you are sitting at home, looking at maps and street views, the Google maps is very nice. But you can continue to use Google maps while sitting at home.

If you are actually out and about, with a 3G connection, then Apple's Maps are much more useable.

You are kidding right? I used the apple maps navigation tool (turn by turn) to replicate a trip i had used google maps for the previous day: Google maps: the trip took 45 mins, Apple Maps: the trip took 1hr 25 mins, and took me on a ridiculous route on dirt tracks. I had full 3g and GPS reception. It is the WORST mapping tool available.

Right, i think there should be a rule against apple staff posting regard these issues. These maps are inferior to all other products. I am a professional forester, working in remote areas of australia - google maps will always be superior. Its such a pity as i am Apple through and through, this is a major letdown. Poor accuracy, incoorect locations, visually poor. I use self-made rastor differentially corrected maps and they beat Apples maps. In fact, i do better with an old topo and a compass.

I find this part of your post interesting. Apple does not read or reply to these posts or this forum. This is a user to user technical support forum. That was part of the TOS you agreed to when joining the forum.

That is just a standard refrain when someone with a lot of points challenges a post.

Apple Maps is proven inferior because it doesn't work as well for a few people in some random, remote area of the world that has no people, but excellent 3G coverage. It can be Australia, Brazil, just about anywhere that isn't verifiable by 99.9% of all iPhone users.

What's the worst case scenario? Apple loses its entire customer base in the Outback?

You are missing the point. It is a concerted, anti-Apple, pro-Google campaign. The first enemy is the truth. Note how originally it was a "remote area" that has now morphed into downtown Sydney.

The same thing is happening on the browser side. Just yesterday I was helping someone with a presentation and Chrome wasn't displaying a Prezi presentation properly. I was trying to figure out why it wasn't working and at one point said "Chrome!?" in exasperation. She said her roommates told her she had to have it. She didn't know why. It seems like everyone is using Chrome. Why? I've used it. It's nothing to write home about. Google got its wrist slapped for hacking Safari so now Google is using its market presence to convince people they need to use Chrome. That way, no hacking is required to track your web surfing habits. My work (with a few hundred thousand employees and contractors) is switching to gmail. Lots of good emails to read there. Of course I will lose corporate IM functionality. I wonder why Google hasn't gone after the IM market.

This is not about Apple Maps. Apple is trying to provide a more useful service and value for its customers while preserving their privacy. Apple's large mobile market share makes that a threat to Google. That is the only reason you see all this maphate.
