My iphone 5 would not charge. I read some of the post and someone said they took the old (iPhone 4) adapter and used it with the new cable and it FINALLY started charging. In my case, the cable is not working. Who ever posted changing the adapters, I want to say "Thanks,"

I had the same "not charging" issue. In my case, the adapter  is the issue. I took the new cable and put the new cable into the old iphone 3 & 4 adapter and it FINALLY STARTED CHARGING.

I, too, am having the same problem charging iPhone 5. For those of you that live far away from an Apple Store, I seem to have found a temporary solution. All you need is the charger and a small enough elastic band of any kind (rubber band, hair scrunch thingy, etc.) In my case, pulling the cable to the left side of the phone drew a full charge. The band keeps the cable in place wherever your cable 'connects.'

    It works for now.

Called Apple....went through all of their troubleshooting.  Nothing worked

All I wanted was a replacement, 12 hr battery life and not charging in less than 24 hours of ownership, I think a replacement is understandable.  They didn't want to do one.

Took forever to get them to agree to do one, then when they did agree it was either going to take 2 weeks for me to get or they were going to charge me 29 dollars to ship it faster.  Needless to say that was the tipping point for me.

Manager gets on the line and instantly agrees to waive the 29 dollars, yet she will only ship it as fast as 3 business days.  Ok I guess I can take that...

But really, you would think that for a device with these issues that I've had for less than 24 hours they would have acted quicker to replace it and not try to charge me to do so.

Lost a little respect for Apple on that call.

Good news- it's just the cable, not the phone.

Went into a manic apple store and they just grabbed one out of the box to test and job done!

    Thanks for everyone's advise!

Hey guys I made an appt at the apple store today and they replaced the cable no questions asked. No more problems

With it anymore. So you should do that too. I'm grateful that it wasn't a problem

    With the phone!!!

Having the same problem! Was so excited and now I have a dead phone! I wiggled the wire all night and it just won't even recognize its plugged in!

It is the cable, I too went into the store and it was a quick fix. Replaced the charger free of charge.

I too have had this problem.  Computer wont charge it, wall charger wont charge it.  Turn the phone off and plug it in, it recognizes it, turns on and continues to not charge.  Also had to change my apple ID password for "security reasons." which was really odd to me.  Apple is really flowing their rep with all these udderly common problems with apps, iOS6, charging, etc.  Mr. Jobs would never of let this happen.  I got my phone at Best Buy and will be trying to get the fix tomorrow, if my phone lasts that long, have less than 20% right now.

I had a similar charging problem.  The setup went fine, but upon first charge the phone didn't detect the charger.  To make matters worse my MBA (and Mac Mini) stopped detecting the phone.

Good news though.  I think I may have resolved the problem, I plugged the phone into the wall charger and powered the phone off, went to bed.   The next morning when I checked the phone it was charged 100% and is now being detected by the charger and MBA perfectly!  I have no idea how or why but it might worth a try!

I'm having some issues with charging the phone as well. If the phone is turned off, it wont recognise that it has been plugged into the wall but the phone does charge. However, when I turn the phone back on and leave it plugged in it doesn't charge. This is completely bizzar as it ovbiously shouldn't matter if its turn on or not.

I'm starting to wonder if there is actually an issue with the handset. I left the phone turned on over night and found it had dropped 10% charge. That doesnt seem right for a brand new phone which is meant to have an amazing new battery. Also, I noticed that if I tap behind the ear piece that there is a pretty loud rattle, again that doesn't seem right.

Does anybody else have a similar issue with the battery life and rattle? I'm getting pretty ****** off with this phone that costs £500+.
