Yellow tint on iPhone 5

Anyone else have an awful yellow tint on their iPhone 5 screen? My whites look cream and the eBay app in particular (being yellow) looks awful.

I've upgraded from the iPhone 4 and I would for sure prefer that screen over this. Crisp whites I'm surely missing.

Black 16gb iPhone 5 here btw

Hi I have exactly same problem, whites look really cream!

I thought apple would have removed this issue from other yellow hue apple products! The problem is they use different manufactures to make the displays and not any 2 displays are the same with these phones! It's a known problem and its just like winning the lottery to get a nice white screen

Hi I'm going to compare it to the demo iPhone 5's in apple store, if the demo versions have better screen I will then make an official complaint and demand an exchange. U are absolutely right, quality control is completely out the window. When u look at other products from other companies I.e, Sony Xperia, lg Optimus, Samsung s3 all their screens are exactly the same across the board, but when it comes to apple products some have greenish whites, blueish whites, yellow whites and now cream whites with iPhone 5. I am a photographer and need true colours, I.e whites are actually white etc.

these issues are putting me off apple. :(

Let me know please Wat apple say when you visit them tomorrow, I'll be going in on Monday.

I agree. This yellow tint is horrendous. I don't think it's "glue drying" or anything weird like that. It's not a QA problem. It was an honest-to-god design implementation. The iPhone 4's whiter screen was a highlight over the 3G/3GS series which was lauded in the launch demonstration. It appears they reverted back to the cheaper screen and yellower colors.

No doubt they will tell you some BS about how the screen is more responsive or some bullhockey like that because they integrated the touch sensors into the LCD itself. SUPPOSEDLY it's a "clearer" display.

I just upgraded from ip4 to ip5. One of the joys of the 4 was the amazing retina display which still looks fantastic. I'm getting the yellow tint too and it just makes my heart sink to be honest. I don't know if its part of a poor batch but its making me cling on to my ip4 like my life depends on it...if this is just how the screen looks then I'm returning it :/ ill just switch to a really cheap contract and keep my old handset :/

It's so disappointing. Like this should be the greatest handset I've ever owned but every time I go to unlock it a part of me dies. It just makes it look cheap and makes the colour scheme look unnatural. I took some photos and viewed them side by side on the 4 and 5 and the 4 looked more natural. The 5 makes all the colours too vibrant, and I agree with the earlier post, the eBay logo looks horrendous now.

what i have noticed is that as you boost the brightness, the whites come out more white than creme, but I don't want to destroy my retinas every time I look at it. Just doesn't look natural. If you set your brightness to zero with the auto brightness off, and sweep slowly from darkest to lightest, it seems to go through 2 stages of brightening, up to about half way it looks creamy, and then after the half way point it gets more white. Means the solution (aside from jailbreak which I'll never do) is to have it full brightness.

This is literally my only gripe. The handset aside from that is a speed demon. Absolutely wipes the floor with my old MacBook for web browsing.

I've got the yellow-ness too, not only that, but the battery seems slightly worse than my old 4.

I know htc's some times have to wait a month for the batteries to come right. But if I have to wait for the screen to dry, and the battery to come right, well... I buy apple so I don't have to deal with these things.

Or maybe this is the true cost of pre-ordering...

hi i dont think this has anything to do with glue, the actual screen tempearture is a horrible cream/yellow colour.

there are 3 companies that make the displays, LG, SHARP and JAPAN DISPLAY. each company will have have a different colour temperature. so as i mentioned before its luck for which display u get.
