my iPhone 5 will not rotate

Make sure portrait mode is not locked on. I went to pull up menu and in the upper right hand corner, undid portrait mode. This solved the problem for me.

On iPhone 5 iOS 7 lock the screen, then press home button to see the screen then swipe up the symbol ' _ ' quick view ( underneath the slide to unlock ) and top right button unlocks the portrait lock

Hi All was having the same problem could not get the i phone 5 to unlock, tried all the above but did not work - then found the magic solution. From the home screen swipe UP - this shows the control center where you will see across the top various icons (plane sound etc) the last icon is the lock button. If it is white it is on, tap it to turn it black and it is off - Hey Presto job done.

I have just bought an Iphone 5s and some of the screens will not rotate. The most important screen that does not rotate is the Contacts or Phone book. I have tried the lock and unloct swithch at the control center several times with no success. I have rebooted my phone many times as adviced in the forum but some screens still do not rotate. The keboard screen also doesnot rotate.

@ctb1996 I take it this is your first iOS device. There are some application that have never and will never rotate and the phone/contacts app is just one. There seems to be no inherent need to rotate some of the apps.

I did the whole home button thing, and there wasn't anything there... When I tapped home twice I got to my open apps... There was no lock thing. My iPods gyro thing doesn't work in any apps.

I Have a iPhone 4s that I've been using 2ish years+. Today it suddenly stopped rotating orientations. Portrait lock is still off, but if I go to Compass App and swipe sideways to get the level tool, I can see that the phone can still sense tilt. Although idk if it uses acceraometer or gyro. I can't fix the no-rotate issue
