my iPhone 5 will not rotate

My iPhone 5 will not rotate. I have used the double click the home button, swipe and unlock/lock the rotation several times. Any thoughts?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Check a number of other topics related to this question - causes include hardware lock (with the rotation / mute switch), software lock (music controls) or possibly an app issue - see this discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4314652 in particular for details on different possible causes as well as links for further information (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085 in particular). If the usual solutions don't work, it may be worth looking into newly installed / updated apps that may hijack the rotation lock as I've just come to experience myself.

I also have this problem, after dozens of reboots and trying all of the above Apple have asked me to send it in to them. Without anything being setup on the phone it still doesn't work so not an app issue. I'd suggest arranging a repair with apple or returning it to where you got it from, with current demand apple would probably be your quickest option.

@ Mr. help me pls

Your a legend, i cannot believe i didnt google this before.

My iphone4 gyro didnt work for some reason and i just figured that when i had dropped it that it had knackered it.

Then i have had my iphone5 for one day and realised my gyro is not working, i thought that something cant be right or its faulty.....

So google it and it leeds me to your answer, iphone5 sorted.

Then i start to wonder, hmm i wonder if my iphone4 had the same option.........boom loaded up double tap home, slide form left to right, turn the option off then on and bobs your uncle its fixed!!!!

Almost a year i put up with my gyro not working! lol feel ashamed to even know what google is!

Thanks though my friend, you just made the sale of my iphone4 90% at least easier, if i knew how to send you one id send you a pint!

Regards

Jason

All -

I spent a lot of times looking at these solutions and trying to figure it out before realizing that it may be you inadvertently locked on the new iOS7 "control panel." New feature that you might not ordinarily look into.

Get to your home page on the phone and 'swipe up' to show the control panel. Upper left is the lock 'on' or 'off' engage that how you'd like.

No reboots, or resets required at least for me.
