Apple skull face

Hi, My ipod touch has a skeliton apple face on the screen and i can't do any thing with it. Can any one

advise please. Also when i plug it into my laptop with the latest itunes just downloaded today it is not

recognised or picked up. I dont see anywhere on the left marked devices. Many Thanks
