Crashing After Importing of ~11 minutes

Hi there

People, please help out, to fix the problem

I have MacBook Pro, 2,16GHz - 2 GB Ram

i Have camera HDV 1080i, and if i import more than 10 minutes, right after 10-11 min (~ eight, nine gigas) the movie on display is turning off to blue-scree
but camera is going on to play recorded movie.
After i stop the movie import. The system starting to "FAN" with Mac's Colored Fan and it's not trying to send the report, it's Crashing

Please help out...

HDcontent gets converted automatically by iM into another comressor, Apple Intermediate Codec.

that is a process of high computation....

a) maybe, just the displaying can not follow the import any more, so it is switched off...
b) maybe, your MacBook is not able to handle HDimports of more then 10min in s single block..

due to that "non distructive" feature of iMovie, I wouldn't import whole tapes, but just the parts I need for editing; and I would allow iM to do shorter clips (if a scene gets segemented into two parts - don't worry, you don't see the cut... we had that same procedure with iM1,2,3,4....)

besides: miniDV needs ~13GB per hour, HD much more... PLUS you should leave "some" (10 -15GB) disk space free, to make System and apps work smooth...
