Problem with waking from sleep with 10.8.2

update: back to square one -- and coma mac

and now system won't 'sleep' the displays either

this is just getting worse and worse

I too have a problem waking my MacPro (early 2009) from a deep sleep. Have tried the above solution more than once but the problem remains. I have just installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on top of the last Lion release.

Because of "nda" I'm afraid I can't speak too much about it, but any person with this problem and registred at adc ( Register ) can give a try at Mac OS ML last update. It is possible to register for free...

For others the solution could be there in a couple of weeks ( days ? ) via Software Update in the Apple menu ..

It worked for me and this black screen pulsing but dead Mac thing I had for months is gone now. As is the sound the graphic card used to make : a slight puf-puf-puf-puf, very slight but never ending noise when Mac was supposedly asleep.

Are you 100% sure it finally fixes the freezing problem?

All I can tell is that, for 6 days now, since I updated a little week ago, I had no trouble to wake up Mac Pro every time it was asleep, and I very rarely shut it down (uptime : ... up 3 days, 9:34, restart was done because of a driver update, not a too deeply asleep Mac).

So it really looks like this update fixed the problem for me. I used to and still have, a little chill every morning before I wake it up but because it succeded every times I'm confident that chill will disapear soon 🙂

I has a similar issue, but it was resolved by removing an app from the Login Items that was not supported in Mountain Lion.

Is 'wake for network access' solved too?

Whilst the nvidia update solved the sleep issue for me, the network access is still a no go, which isn't much use as it's my aTV server.

Keep us updated. I don't have the problem every day. Sometimes i have not a blackscreen for days.

The nvidia patch thats posted here is not for my 2009 iMac 😐

That's right, that's why I still have a little fear when I press a keyboard key in front of the blackscreen but, for a week now everything is fine and the Mac Pro wakes up.

There will be four days in a couple of hours since I restarted it and it was for a driver update, not a black screen. Before that it stood 3 days with the update and without any problem.

So maybe it is not solved but it does look like it is for me. I'll post here if I have anew black screen of death.

As for Wake on lan I don't really use it so I can't tell.
