Actually, if to count years, I'm a Nokia funboy. I started use mobile phones at 90th with huge Motorolla CDMA phone, than it was Siemens S10 Active, Siemens S25 and than Nokia, Nokia, Nokia, Nokia...

Couple of years ago I bought HTC, the top model, and was really upset with Windows OS and HTC design...

I bought my fires iPhone last year. Actually I was looking for a new Nokia, but as soon as I take iPhone in my hands, I understood that this is thing i really WANT to have and use. No one big plastic thing in the shop impressed me, but this piece of technology was really impressive.

No one other device DESIRED by MILLIONS. No other gadget was made with PERSONALITY, I don;t know how to say it in Eniglish, but you know PERSON who designed and invented it... Do you know who invented SIII? No one thing sold by so huge millions items overseas... No one mobile so desired - you know how much the new iPhone in Russia just after launch? THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS and many people buy it! Samsung never deserve this SPECULATIVE price because nobody WANT it.

Useless discussion. It's only pity I'll buy next mobile phone which will be so easy scratchable... But I see no other choices.

So true... it's amazing the Galaxy S3 out of box too!

For those who say they have a 'flawless' iPhone 5.... you are nuts!   I went through countless devices.  Everyone at the Apple store is well aware of the issues too.  No way can you find an iPhone 5 without a single scratch, scuff or chip on the bezel.  No way you can not find an imperfection on the display or fine scratch!

Do yourself a favour and make the switch to Galaxy S3 as I have done and see for yourself how truly amazing the fit and finish ever applied to a phone is...  it's the Galaxy S3!

I am returning my iPhone 5 on Sunday!

I've also received a damaged Iphone 5 out of the box.

    My issues are:

    1. Scratched/chipped sides

    2. Dust or chip on the inside of the sapphire lens cover

    3. Loose screw or some kind of particle inside the phone that i can hear when i shake the phone

I've taken it to the Apple Store on 5th Ave in New York, and they were extremely unhelpful.  The "Genius" I spoke with, basically told me to live with it.  I called Apple Care and a Senior Advisor is supposed to be shipping me a replacement. The one thing that the Senior Advisor said that bothered me was: "make sure when you receive your replacement, that it lives up to your standards before accepting it".  This is not about "my standards", this is about industry standards.  When I purchase a brand-new product, I expect it to be brand-new, as should everyone else.  This is not a standard that I made up to serve my own needs.

For a phone that was touted as going through such a precise manufacturing process and compared to a finely crafted watch, this phone really is a piece of garbage.

On my 3rd iPhone now. This one has speakers so bad, it makes music sound like a freight train. I've left the back plate plastic on until I receive my case in the mail because I don't want to scratch the Apple logo on the back.

Your post convinced me to look at the saphire lens. I was afraid I'd also get dust behind the lens if I took the plastic off, but upon inspection after immediately peeling that thin little plastic off, I see Apple has already done that for me! Oh joy! Two specs of unremovable dust underneath the lense.

Any sane human being would have stopped after the second phone and said **** YOU APPLE, but no, we are LOYAL customers who just want the product that we were promised. We do not deserve this, and Apple must pay. I never thought I'd say this, but Apple is not the same after Steve Jobs died. This new phone is 9 times out of 10, a pile of ****. We need to force Apple's hand into making a public response because keeping quiet about this is INSULTING to us loyal customers who have been here since Steve Jobs.

Wow..... Due to your post, I decided to listen to music through my speakers for the first time, and.............

I need to add a fourth issue to my list:

    4.  When I play music on the speakers, the sound fades in and out, and I can hear a bunch of static periodically.  I do not experience this when playing music through the earpieces.

Jony Ive Senior Vice President of Design actually says this in the Iphone5 video:

"....the remarkable precision with which it's being built. Never before have we built a product with this extraordinary level of fit and finish...."

"....this manufacturing precision extends to how these many pieces seemlessly come together...."

"....the variances from product to product, we now measure in microns.  we believe that going to such extreme lengths, is the only way that we can deliver this level of quality...."

That's great news! Apple said I'd be getting gone of these too next Wednesday. Think this is Apples new procedure for handling replacements. It appeared to be a new method they were testing to handle these claims.

So I have my Galaxy S3 next to my iPhone 5.

I just returned it today and got another one just to make sure it was gonna be good.... sure enough LIGHT LEAKS!  What the ****?

    Apple get yourself together!

The rattling you hear is just the buttons.

  • EJNY Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

No, it is definately not my buttons.  I have held the buttons in place while shaking the phone.  And trust me, it is some kind of loose particle or even a screw that is moving around inside my phone.  Did you yourself inspect my phone?  No, you did not, so please don't make assumptions based on your own experience.

There is no need to get your panties in a wad. I was just trying to help.

  • bandit Level 3 Level 3 (870 points)

Wow! You were very harsh to EJNY. No one here is an expert. We are all just users like you, therefor we can only offer help based on our own experiences.

  • EJNY Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I never asked for your help, but thanks for trying.
