    Sadly it's got to the stage where I think f*** it I can't be bothered anymore.


    They say one thing on the phone and do another when you walk in there.


    There is obviously an issue as there are now workers striking as they have raised the bar with regards to quality control at Foxconn!


    Service parts are never as good as retail replacements, never are. If that phone was made as good as they say then why are there draws full of replacement phones. Loads of them.


    The irony is that there are message boards full of really unhappy customers and there is this level of arrogance in that there is no reply.


    As I said in the store if apple ŵere selling cars would people be happy with having the option of one one with a dented wing, another with a cracked windscreen or another with a faulty exhaust....

    Hello jonchild,


    As an Ex Apple Retail employee here in Los Angeles I apologize for Your experience but this seems to be a byproduct of the new Apple. Corporate either has some plan that We are unaware of or this is all a sign of the Global Economic Meltdown considering that Apple is one of the top 5 largest Companies in the World and has the capital resources to keep things running smooth. I have been given such the runaround by Apple including being told I was unFair by Applecare Rep for requesting to sort My problem out in store ( which is Apples Exchange policy here in U.S ) with a Manager there to witness and testify to the trouble instead of wasting resources on the phone. The only way to be heard is Reject the Defects and Think Different i.e return the phone and walk away. S. Jobs would have gotten in front of these QC rejects and kept Us in the loop too mitigate any Blowback on Apple's Public Image. Mr. Tim C. needs to get off the pipe and make a gesture of good will considering the magnitude of these blemishes and hardware glitches manifesting out of box and in the stores. Truly Pathetic!

    It's good to know that some people are taking me seriously.


    You are probably more than aware of some of the problems going on at present. Maybe you can shed some light on why retail replacements are not given by apple and yet this is a standard course of action for most other companies?


    Your insider knowledge would be great to call upon.

    Hello Jon,


    Here in the U.S. if You are exchanging the phone with AppleCare at the genius bar then You'll get a service part, if You bought it in store  speak to the Manager and if They have new stock in inventory You should be offered a new box if You brought the original packaging and contents of Your faulty device with You. Best to call Apple Store Online Sales Support who should offer a new retail box but will want to ship it to You so then request too make the exchange in store which is the best option considering the chances of receiving another defective product is extremely high.


    FYI, I gave up and returned them, way too many bad vibes and condescending attitudes considering it's a bloody cell phone.

    Do you know the difference between the service parts and retail ones.


    Rumours suggest that service parts have been through a more stringent QC process.


    Is that right?

    I was given a white box replacement phone on each occasion which they call a service part.


    They had a huge draw full of them.


    So it's not taken from a retail box with headphones and charger etc.....

    Hello- To answer Lornz, service parts are white box Applecare parts and might be new or refurbished.


    Jon, I doubt the rumors of more stringent QC are correct as I was offered the option by a Senior Applecare Rep too open as many as 15 or more white boxed phones to find one that met Apple's Marketing Specs which obviously dismisses the idea that each boxed unit exemplifies Apple's Excellence.

    See cos I got mine through O2. O2 emailed Apple and I just got sent and given a brand new one sealed in black box.

    Don't settle for anything but being perfect.


    The contracts are a long commitment and as such you should have the quality that reflects that level of commitment!


    You know the longer this continues the more I am getting increasingly frustrated!


    I also am starting to think there should be some level of compensation.


    I am having to take time out of my day each time to stand around the bloody Genius Bar like a spare ***** at a wedding. Not to mention setting the phone up again each time!

    Ye it's horrible I it... It almost makes ya feel a bit sick... I'm just hoping they re contact me tomorrow n say yes we will exchange again! Just hope 3rd time lucky ...


    The worst thing to think is a third could be worse! Lets hope not.. Otherwise I may possibly have to settle myself ESP if liverpool one r like that!


    Someone has gladly given me contact details of higher up in O2 so that will be my last resort!
