    Hello Jon,

Fortunately I did not have to open that many, when I spoke with a Senior AppleCare Rep he was ready to set up an in store appointment authorizing an unlimited unboxing till one met Apple's standards which I of course refused based on practicality. The video I posted a few days ago from a leak inside Foxconn from September 6, 2012 claimed that 9 out of 10 phones failed QC but were being distributed anyway so considering that 1 in 10 would meet Apple standards chances are that if I opened 10 or 20 boxes that at least 1 or 2 would meet expected fit and finish. Again, Pathetic for any companies' reputation and as an apple stock holder, such flippancy considering these are very expensive products is INSANE unless Apple Corporate has some plan that makes this type of waste necessary in the big picture.

    Best, Stu

I don't know what to say!

What would you advise me to do?

  • jonchild Level 1 Level 1

    Hi Stu,

Do you have the video link please?

Apple Sales Support offered NO Compensation on the Phone or supplemental Applecare+, supposedly against their policy, but since I found a reply on this thread that Apple did offer a discount to a UK customer and mailed it to her I received a message on Friday saying she will be calling me tomorrow to follow up so I'll let You know if there was a change of heart. Considering Your situation, I do not know how much You have invested in buying Apps etc. but if the phones exteriors are failing fit and finish what state might the guts be in? Again, a Pathetic & Perplexing Situation if You are a loyalist to say the least. Remember if You need a phone, you need a phone so if Apple cannot provide that service other manufactures do.

    Speak Soon & Best, Stu

This is what concerns me the most!

I would love to know that difference between a service part and a retail part this early on in the devices' life...

I am getting a number of issues with the current replacement but am now apprehensive about raising these issues as I am conscious ofbeing branded a trouble causer or that they just will not help.

Its a precarious situation and one that really is becoming somewhat of a drain.

I have invested heavily i apps and additional equipment and as such it would mean starting from scatch once more!!!!!

    Hi Jon

Just received a call from O2 and apple are sending out another brand new replacement. So will let you know the outcome when I receive it

    Kind regards

Firstly apple explain the scuffs and scratches on iphone 5s reported by customers as being "perfectly normal" ...

Now apple explain the "purple saturation" from photos taken with iphone 5s as being... "perfectly normal"

...Surely enough is enough!? This is VERY condescending

  • jonchild Level 1 Level 1

    How good is that!

    You must be made up.

Hope it is perfect in evey form!

I am still battlig away, feel like the last man standing, lol

  • jonchild Level 1 Level 1

The more I have been delving into these flaws the more is being brought to the surface....!

It's actually very worryin to be honest.

I can see a man's lifetime of achievements slowly being undone......

  • joff81 Level 1 Level 1

Jonchild the difference between a retail part and service part is that a retail part comes in a retail box with all the accessories and is new from the factory. A service part comes in a white box or unboxed and is a refurbished handset that has previously been used.

With regards to the scratches and chips being normal I agree "WITH USE" it's normal for anything to be scratched or chipped. What apple have not addressed is the fact that handsets are arriving to customers "ALREADY SCRATCHED OR CHIPPED BEFORE USE" and that's the issue apple have not addressed.

  • Lornz_1983 Level 1 Level 1

God I hope so! Don't know how long I can put up with this. Hope no chips , no dust and hope sturdy buttons!!  Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!!

  • jonchild Level 1 Level 1

I could not agree more strongly.

However, when you go to the store for a replacement and are told to pick the best of a bad bunch ad that they loathe to open up another phone then there is something fundamentally wrong!

I just am still strugglin to get my head around the fact that a member of staff could say that to a customer!

It's not their personal property! And it is not their decision to make!

But this is the faceless Apple that we are now presented with.

Even the staff have commented on the changes that have taken place. Those that have left and those that are still present there!!!

This may have to be esclated to the consumer watchdog! Not only for the poor quality goods but the apparent lack of service!

  • jonchild Level 1 Level 1

After chatting with you yesterday I dragged out my first iphone.

A quality handset, not a single problem, maybe a retro release.......? Lol

  • Lornz_1983 Level 1 Level 1

Ye I know what u mean. Everyone totally made up when I pass my down cos they excellent condition.

If u ring apple do they tell u to go to the store.

My heart raced when they rang as I thought O2 were gonna say no not gonna send another out but they have. I guess depends on who on apple u get.

I do hope u get yours sorted. It's not fair other wise
