    Interesting - this is where my white box replacements have been shipped back to but I don't think they came from there (think it was China).

    Well Im still waiting for my replacement to arrive from VZW. Im getting it on Wednesday. After reading all recent post I dont believe the one im getting will be any better to the one i have now. Ive been using this one since Thursday when i got it and its worked fairly well. I do have it in a case since i want them to give me my money back when i ship this one. (very unfair for the customer to have to buy another iPhone while u ship yours back, Its a lot of money!). I havent noticed any scuffs or scratches on it since ive been using it. I do notice the LTE dropping even tho theres signal. Then all of a sudden i will get a message that my timezone settings need to be updated and it will change to another date and time? Its happend to me twice already! very weird. I had two dropped calls yesterday. Battery seems the same as my old iPhone 4. Im no way going to Verizon to have it replaced. I dont want to have to pay for anoher iPhone. Apple said they would handle it as a warranty repair and I would more than likely get a referbished one. I guess i wont know till i get it. Keeping my fingers crossed but im not expecting to get a mint condition phone.

    My company received a new black 64gb last week and it was in perfect condition. I was curious so checked it out with "microscope". Was in the condition all of us should have gotten ours in.


    So, keep your hopes up Anthrax82. Verizon is sending out at least some perfect condition phones.


    We've seen the VZ LTE behavior you experienced as well. Very much dependent on your area. Not the strongest here in Hawaii compared to other cities I've tested in.


    Have not seen the timezone change prompts. Strange. I'd open a ticket for that to Apple Support.

    Wow must be nice getting a perfect condition phone out of the box. One other person who had ordered the phone from VZW when i did said his came in looking immaculate so i had hopes. Idk what to expect this time tho. Seeing that maybe 1 out of 10 phones is in perfect condition i dont see my chances that great. But i wont know till i get it. I havent called about my timezone issues since im not keeping this phone. So lets see

    Yes isn't it sad?! It shouldn't be "nice" to get a perfect condition phone. It should be the standard. Keep the faith though as I think things will get better. From the news articles about how Apple has raised attention to Foxconn about quality control (unfortunately starting riots at the factory), is an indicator that there are lots of consumers experiencing this and that it will get better. Good luck.

    Unfortuately by the time they get their act together I will no longer be able to have my phone replaced. Unless i file insurance claim and i pay out of pocket.

    Received my replacement iphone 5 a couple of hours ago, white box "Inspected by AppleCare".  This one had a small chip which i was going to overlook until I peeled off the front screen protector.  Immediately, I saw 2 scratches about 1cm long near the front facing camera.  This one also has a loose screw/particle moving around inside the phone.  I am extremely irritated to say the least.  The Senior Advisor that was helping me with this, actually guaranteed that they would not send me a damaged phone.  I asked this, because Ozzy's 6th pre-damaged replacement.  In all honesty, this iPhone 5 is the worst purchase I have ever made in my life, and Apple is making it extremely difficult on me.  (They are already holding $700+ for this scratched screen replacement, and they were bold enough to ask me for my credit card number again to have another Express Replacement sent, otherwise I have to wait another estimated 2-weeks.


    I have wasted countless hours and money trying to get a genuinely new and undamaged phone (that I've already paid for), and it looks like I will have to waste more.  On hold with AppleCare once again....

    Got an S3 and it was perfect out of box first try!


    I think Apple's marketing was meant for the Galaxy S3! LOL

    Here in the UK I got my iPhone 5 launch day and found scratches on the back and 2 chips out of the bezel at the front. I contacted apple who rang me and said my handset was defective and was authorised for a replacement. I told the apple CS guy that I got my iPhone 5 from my local three store and was given a case number and told to take the handset back to the three store and give them my apple case number to follow up the replacement request.


    I went to my local three store and was told there is no stock to swap my scratched iPhone 5 and to try back next week .

    I rang back on the 28th sep and was told that no stock arrived and the next delivery date for iPhone 5 stock was 3rd October and that I will get a phone call to confirm stock was available to swap my iPhone.


    On the 3rd October I was rang and told that delivery is running late and stock will arrive tomorrow morning and to come and swap my iPhone after lunch tomorrow.


    I rang the three store at 1pm on the 4th and was told they had a delivery of iPhone 5's but no black 16GB had been delivered and the manager said he was sorry and that I can continue to use my current one and that it will be swapped as soon as stock arrives even if its outside of the 28 day return period. He also said I'm not the only one waiting for a replacement as another 3 customers had complained from the same issue. The next delivery is scheduled for 10th October but to remember that apple are unable to fulfil the requested orders due to lack of stock so to ring back on the 9th October to see if they are still getting a delivery.


    The thing is I live too far away from an apple store to get my iPhone 5 replaced by apple and I'm getting sick of being told that my replacement is non existent, so much so that I've started to look for alternative handsets.

    If on the 10th I still can't get my iPhone replaced I'm going to ask for a refund on my upfront handset fee and get my contract downgraded to what I was on before and have a good look at the windows 8 phones that are coming out in November.

    So far the HTC Windows 8X and the Nokia lumia 920 are a really tempting alternative especially after getting the run around and still have my original scratched and chipped handset that I got on launch day. I'm getting really frustrated and just think that these iPhone 5 handsets are not worth the hassle especially going by how many replacements people are going through just to get an iPhone 5as it should be with not scratches or chips when you open the box.

    Not sure if it matters, but I found a site that decodes some the serial numbers of iPhone 5 units.  Not sure how accurate or safe this site is, so only entered the serial number of my defective phone. The report came up with the following below. Looks like it was produced in Week 37 in Chengdu Foxconn. This is the iPhone I received on launch day 9/21 so appears to have come hot of the factory floor if it was produced in September 10-16. Perhaps too quickly.

    I was just thinking about it...


    If Applecare is slapping a sticker on the boxes that states 'Inspected by Applecare' and products are still shipping out defective, then either a) they aren't checking it or b) this is why the products are delivery with defects out of factory!  Because 'Apple' can't even see them!  Oh is Apple screwed without Jobs!  It's starting to show!

    Ive been tempted to go to the S3 but after using iOS for over a year I just cant go back. @EjNY So sorry about your experiances.Im also waiting for my replacement to arrive from VZW, Im not holding my breath tho. Im positive there will be something on it that i will notice off the bat. I refuse to have them re charge me for another iPhone then i gotta ship mine back before they give me back my money, its bad enough i had buy another phone to have them ship me replacement. Not the customers fault they shouldnt make you pay for it again. What has Apple come to? this is ridiculous. Too bad i sold my iPhone 4S or else I would just kept that and waited a few months before trying to buy iPhone 5. Oh well just gotta roll with it and pray that its not that bad of a deffect that ill just live with it

    Apple has halted production of iPhone 5 black units... they say it is because of Popular demand... but reports are flooding from within Apple that it is because of quality control issues! 


    Even if you find a perfect black unit... it will get scratched and nicked very easily!  Get a white unit.


    Ps I was at Best Buy the other day and they opened a box for the customer and the scratched part on the iPhone bezel turned green!   Everyone was looking at it in disbelief! 


    If you have an iPhone 5 with a scratch or nick on the bezel you best get it swapped because it will turn green with air and moisture hitting the unpainted area!


    Call Applecare and set your replacement up and get a refund before it is too late!

    Interesting, I was considering the white model but the black one is more apealing to me. Ive been using this one for a few days now and im not noticing any more scratching is paint chipping other than the paint chip bottom left hand corner near atenna. I do keep it in a case so theres no risk of it showing smudges or more wear.
