    How bad is this getting!!!!!!!!


    Just had quite a long chat with a store manager......


    They are not allowed to comment obviously but as soon as the topic was raised his eyes rolled to the back of his head!


    There are some people getting money given back. There are others being sent brand new retail replacements whilst others are getting service parts.


    And whilst al of these cosumers are rushing around booking appointments and taking time off from work to correct these wrong doings, it would appear that nobody at Cupertino has the time to pen an apology or explanation.


    Where do we go from here?


    This is the point I am at now.


    As much as it is becoming exasperating, I am not going to give in until things are right. For a product launch that we looked forward to so much it has been so badly marred.

    And I thought I had somehow scratched mine that first day.

    I got mine on the 21st as well, and I had one small scratch on the top, and one on the bottom.

    It is now protected in my otterbox, while overly large, I want this phone to last several years.

    I may have to look into a replacement/compensation, but I'll wait for apples response.


    I most certainly agree with most posters, a $700 phone, (cost me $400) should be perfect.

    It is horrible. I think what makes it worse is the iSheep don't make enough of a stink about these things because they just have to have their iPhone right now. No wonder Apple is so slow to correct or even own up to issues.


    Went back to the Apple store at The Grove today, and lucky me they had an iPhone that was almost flawless. Very slight mark on the bottom but no dents so I took it. Low and behold took some pics with the camera and Purple flare is horrible. Also, there is a slight rattling coming from the phone. I've made an appointment with the genuis bar.


    Seriously Apple, this is terrible. I'm gonna give it the old college try but if this keeps up, I'm giving up on the iPhone period. So far I've experience Scuffgate, Purplegate, and the rattling noise. Plenty of better and cheaper phones out on the market right now. It just doesn't have an Apple logo on it.

    On your "purple gate" comment, please see this article. Consumer reports finds this in all cameras, including Android S3. I personally encounter this on my pro SLR as well.

    Mine went straight from the box into an Otterbox case. I was aware that this was an issue so I checked the phone out right away-didn"t see anything at the time.


    I just took the phone out of the Otterbox and there is now a very small scratch along the edge. So, I don't know if I did it(don't think so, because I was very careful) or if it was there all along, and I just missed it(which seems more likely).


    I will admit, it ticks me off. Never had anything like this with previous iphones. Learned my lesson though. No longer will I be an early adopter-I'm waiting next time.


    Not cool, Apple. Not cool. Especially since I keep my electronics pristine. I was able to sell my 4S back to Gazelle in perfect condition-won't be able to do that with the 5, and it started out like that. Even if it was caused by me taking the phone out of the case, it's not acceptable. Seeing as how I didnt manhandle it or drop it.


    And I'm afraid to switch it out, because the next one could be worse.

    I think there is going to be a change anytime soon!


    Can't say why but the production process will be a lot better and of a much higher quality.

    To anyone on here in the UK and are getting replacements for carriers rather than directly from apple can you let me know if you are having issues with supply to get a replacement ???


    The reason I ask is because the Three store I got my iphone 5 from has failed again to receive any 16gb black models which makes it nearly 3 weeks with no 16gb black models.

    I've been told the next delivery will be 17th October now and it seems as it is actually apple that is not sending out stock to the carriers as the manager showed me the list of people waiting for iPhone 5 black 16gb models and also the revised delivery email from apple stating the revised estimated delivery date for iPhone 5 to their store.


    It does seem there is something going on as why else would apple be doing this to carriers ???


    Anyway it looks like I've got another weeks wait for ate ash another update on when my replacement will be arriving to swap my chipped/nicked handset.

    Well good news for me! Received my replacement this afternoon from VZWand it was FLAWLESS! not one dent or scratch or paint chip, Not even by the atennas like my first one! I was so excited and relieved at the same time. I got a brand new iPhone sealed in box as i did my frist phone. I went ahead and put screen protector on it and activated. Sent my old one out! Now just gotta wait for that refund to come in!. Best of luck to everyone else who is still receving damaged units. Keep on the faith and eventually youll get a perfect phone.

    Phew, glad I didn't buy the i5! The 4S is way more tough and durable but in any case I'll be ditching it for the Lumia 920 when it arrives in the stores.


    Goodbye Apple, for a long time at least. The 4S was a perfect and proportionate design. The long, tall, ugly profile of the 5 just messed up the aesthetics altogether, and I couldn't bear to be seen carrying something so awkward-looking.

    Well goodbye, But you're dropping iOS to go to Windows ? Im sorry but Windows phones suck from what I hear. At least go to an Android phone. But whatever floats your boat

    Problem ( scratched in the box!)and I was told to go to apple store by 3 store

    Queensway(London).the apple store manager accepted that

    The phone is faulty but refused to change it and referred me to

    3 store!  I can't believe I'm living in the 20th!

    I let the both parties to talk together over the phone(I contacted 3 store

    And let the apple store manager talk to them!)! What a frustration!

    3 store accepted to change it, however, I have to pop in and ask: sorry,

    Did the new stock come in!

    This is way far from what I have expected from 3 and even apple

    Customer services.
