hello,

after update to OS X 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro (2009) USB ports don't work at all after wake up from sleep mode; with 10.7.4 there was (nearly) any problem.

the used ports appear to be "killed"; the unused USB ports seem to work, but the Mac works in slow-motion.

The only "solution" is to restart my Mac.

- SMC-reset, PRAM-reset or repairing user rights had no positive effect; what is the solution - a bug-fix-update???

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), USB posts killed?

I have a mac mini with os x lion server. After waking up from sleep my mouse no longer works. I can use the keyboard start/kill apps, but I can't get the mouse to work without a restart.

I've noticed that the System Preferences cannot be launched after waking from sleep.

I can use the keyboard shortcuts to initiate a shutdown, but the computer hangs on the gray screen with the "spinning wheel" and I have to power off manually to reboot the machine.

Actually, some of my USB ports work. The port the keyboard was connected to worked, but not the one with the mouse. When I switched those, the mouse came to life but the keyboard stopped working. Testing the ports one by one I've now found that two of the ports are working.

System Preferences still hangs after wakeup, stuck at 100% CPU.

I have a mac mini (A1283) with OS 10.7.4. Upon upgrading to 10.7.5 it did not start up again. Instead, the light was on and the hard drive did not start up. The light on the connected USB mouse was not lit.

My solution:

Cold start with Command-v pressed.

This should start Verbose mode (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492 ).

What happened on my mac mini was that the grey startup screen with the Apple logo appeared for a long while before the login screen came.

Maybe Cmd-v set open firmware params and fixed some corruption.

Anyway: my mac mini works again.

I have this exact issue! Also running 10.7.5, Mac Pro. It's very frustrating, but 'luckily' you can save all your work by toggling apps and cycling through, saving with your keyboard input. This happens sometimes once an hour for me, and it will freeze for about 5-10 minutes, but will come back to working order, and I can again click with my mouse. Otherwise my mouse movements will register, but not clicks, while it is frozen.

I also have a similar problem. I've got a 2010 Mac Pro and on waking from sleep my connected USB devices stop responding. A bluetooth keyboard seems to work but the only solution for the USB devices does seem to be a restart. Although on a couple of occasions, the machine has frozen during the restart and required me to hold the power button to shut it off.

Again, this only started happening after updating to 10.7.5.

Unfortunately I'm still struggling with this problem. Verbose mode on boot didn't do anything for me and even restarting doesn't seem to correct the problem every time. On a few occasions I've cold booted and a couple of minutes after logging in, everything locks up.

I really hope Apple come up with a fix for this. It's not exactly ideal for me to try and roll back to 10.7.4.

"hello again" ,

my "solution" is: for a second time I reset SMC and for a second time I reset the NVRAM, that way, that I hold the shortcut as long as the reset was done for four or five times.

Afterwards I clean every cache and repair user rights with TINKERTOOL SYSTEM.

Finally I disabled in SystemPreferences/EnergySave the option "activate sleep-mode with POWER_ON/OFF-switch";- because I suppose, if thereis a bug, it is here.

The last 2 weeks this works fine for me and everything is allright; so I enabled the option "activate sleep-mode with POWER_ON/OFF-switch" again. Let's see what will happen.
