I have the EXACT same problem with the EXACT same car stereo. After reading how it's affected multiple manufacturers right after everyone updates to the new iOS, it's clear that this is an Apple problem.
Let's get this fixed!

Kenwood stereo. Same symptoms. If there is no fix in sight, is it possible to revert to previous iOS ?

I also got my iphone 5 yesterday. Same issue from my side and it drives me crazy
TheOnlineCoach i've not seen any information neither did i see an app for that issue.
Guess we've to wait from a statement from Apple or Pioneer.

I talked to Pioneer today. They told me that this issue is already known.
They are analysing this, however they expect it to be an issue by Apple. So they're also waiting for any information.

I also use a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT and noticed that the Bluetooth audio control no longer works. The telephone functionality seems 100% in-tact.
My understanding is that the radio and iOS 5 use AVRCP 1.3 to provide control, and iOS 6 was updated to use AVRCP 1.4 which the radio doesn't support.
I don't believe Apple will add support for the older protocol back to iOS6 and have to hope and pray that Pioneer will provide a firmware update to the 2012 model radio to support the newer 1.4 protocol.
I believe we'll need to make some noise to Pioneer to get that done...

I am by no means an expert on A2DP, so someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I have a hard time believing that this is a Pioneer issue. By reading similar posts, I can see this is affecting more than just Pioneer.
I look at this similar to having backwards compatibility to USB. If I were to use a USB 2.0 device on a USB 3.0 bus, I would have the same functionality as if I were plugged into a 2.0 bus. It gives me the option of purchasing a 3.0 device in the future if I so choose, but allows me to continue using my device.
I'd hate to think that Apple is arrogant enough to force everyone to upgrade to use their device, when their competitors device works just fine with the existing hardware. Or at least notify everyone that in order to use their devices, an update is going to be needed so we're not blind-sided like this wondering what the heck happened.

I received the following from Pioneer support today:
"Pioneer is aware of the issue the issue is not isolated to Pioneer units. We are currently evaluating Apple's new iOS6 and iPhone 5 interface, and are not able to provide any information about compatibility at this moment. (Pablo, Customer Service Rep)

I have an iPhone4 and a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT car unit. I've upgraded to IOS 6. The update (from what I've tried and what I can tell) is NOT reversible.
Here's what I've found happening between the iPhone & Pioneer for bluetooth streaming audio:
1. The track/artist info no longer displays.
2. The track skip buttons no longer function.
3. The pause/play button no longer functions. It may SEEM like it does, but it simply mutes the audio, the content continues to play (silently) on the iPhone.
4. The content no longer resumes when the vehicle is started.
5. The content will pause when the vehicle is turned off, but a couple of seconds continue (silently) on the iPhone.
6. If content is paused by the vehicle being turned off, it will resume playing on the iPhone speakers following an incoming phone call, whether answered or not. (This can be a little embarrassing, depending on the content of your prefferred podcasts! )
