iOS6 reboot question

I have an unlocked iPhone 5 and I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. I was asked to restart it by the carrier for the sim (which does not make sense but ok) and it would not reboot. The whole "slide to restart" did not come up but it did do the hard off instead. I am not able to on the iPhone 5 (iOS6) to get the reboot to come up.

I then tried this on my iPhone 4S which I am replacing and had the same thing happen. The second time it did come up but every time there after only a hard reset would work.

Not a huge deal, just curious if anyone else has seen this?
