After update to iCloud 2.0, iCloud not working in outlook.

After tonight's update to iCloud on my PC, the iCloud control panel tells me to "Repair the iCloud control panel to use with Outlook." I've gone through the repair process 10 times, and it still doesn't work. Clicking on Calendar or Contacts in Outlook results in an error that the file can't be read. The "Refresh iCloud" button in Outlook 2007 is gone.

I tried deleting the apparently bad data files in Outlook. That made all iCloud-related calendars and contacts disappear. I then tried the repair, but nothing changed. I uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud 2.0. That didn't help - same error message. Refresh iCloud button is still missing in Outlook. I ran Microsoft Office Diagnostics, and it found nothing wrong with Outlook. Note that the iCloud data files were not reinstalled when I reinstalled iCloud. I deleted and reinstalled iCloud again. Same result. I restarted the computer a couple of times throughout these reinstalls and repairs, but still nothing has changed.

Any ideas?

Oh - forget to say that on my other PC laptop, the update worked fine and iCloud is working. Only difference between the two computers is that this one that's having problems is 64-bit Vista Professional, and the one that is working is 32-bit Vista Home. Same version of Outlook 2007 on both computers.

I wasted a day of my life but worked it out eventually!

I will console myself by telling myself I was exercising my brain's puzzle solving skills. Aaargh!

Anyway, make sure in outlook 2010you enable The icloud add in through settings. There is an enable/disable option at the bottom of the add ins screen which will allow you to do this.

I did this after uninstalling and reinstalling outlook 2010 so not sure whether that made a difference. ???

Also when you get to the last stage of the I cloud set up it kept crashing until I tried several times and eventually declined to import the icloud calendars.

I hope this helps.

Apple / Microsoft it would be really nice if you stopped trying to fob us off with "not my problem".

Good luck everyone

I went through this whole scenario but with my Outlook 2007. I went through the"Trust Center" and found that the iCloud setting was unchecked. When I tried to check it to enable it I got a warning saying it could only be changed by an administrator...I am the freakin admin!

I found a way to enable it and the refresh iCloud button has returned but nothing is updating still when I click it.

I also clicked the link above that takes me to CNet but the download never starts.

I have similar issues! After the update of icloud, my devices (iphone and ipad) no longer sync with outlook 2010. I also can't get the "photostream" option in the control panel to stay ticked! Apple, you're really frustrating the **** out of me! Please can some genius try and sort this out! I don't want to use my icould e-mail address as I'm already using a gmail one.

Can you please tell me where you found a previous version of iCloud to download? I can not find a download that doesn't want to download a zillion other programs too 😟

I also wanted to confirm with you that I have to first delete the new version of iCloud before I install the older version, correct?

Lastly, is there anything else I have to do other than delete the old and install the new? I'm not at all tech savy but desperate to have my phone and pc calendars sync again so I'm willing to try.....

Thanks in advance for your help (it likely means I won't forget when my son's football practices ends again!).

Be careful with iCloud on Windows 8 using Outlook 2010. Read Apple's own description of how iCloud works with Outlook before you proceed. They will tell you outright that iCloud wil REMOVE YOUR CONTACTS FROM YOUR OUTLOOK DATA FILE AND PUT THEM IN THE DELETED ITEMS FOLDER. If you have your Outlook set to empty deleted items upon exiting the program, and you exit the program before you figure this out...you are screwed. The only solution (now that my deleted items has been emptied) is to export the flawed records that iCloud lumped into a single folder (I have 2 businesses and 4 not for profit interests and I maintain those contacts in seperate folders in Outlook) iCloud mis-associated photos so now I see a picture of my friend Holly when I get a call from my bank (no, she does not work at the bank)

I SOUNDLY AGREE with all of the posts that I have seen in this thread that Apple and Microsoft need to knock off the bull$hit and start playing nice or they will BOTH LOSE MARKET SHARE TO GOOGLE!!!! I am in the process of taking my business to Google today.

Please post a link to wherever you got this information.

The correct solution was for you to backup Outlook prior to changing accounts around, then nothing would have been lost.

Good luck with that, one free online system is as bad as any other.

I got that information in this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998

When the update to the latest version of iCloud installed, it changed my settings to sync everything: Contacts, Calendar, Photos, etc. when all I was "syncing" before was my music. I did not backup my data because I did not choose or expect that my Contacts were going to be deleted and put on the cloud, and if you look further into this, you will see that Apple actually did take responsibility for this problem, apologized for it and in my case actually gave me some free storage to make up for my data loss.

This post was to offer a word of caution to anyone else who ran across this problem or any of the other posts about iCloud removing contacts from PCs running Outlook (of which there are several.) I am happy with Apple support and their product right now, and I updated MY original post to reflect that. I don't know or care why you are trolling a group of posts for PC users with iCould problems, but the fact you took the time to reply to my post with a condecending tone only reinforces the sterotype of Apple users as pretentious know-it-alls who assume a great deal, and in fact know very little.

I know enough to back up before changing Outlook's folder structure and storage locations, I also know enouh to move the contacts back from the iCloud folders to the Outlook Personal folders.
