Feb 25, 2013 10:42 PM in response to Interface7by NoMoreNameToUse,I think mine is getting serious. This problem never happened before iOS 6.1.2. After I updated to the said iOS, my iPhone 5 started to have this problem. Mine is about 1 months plus old and today it happens again, twice within few hours. And the second time can't even be fixed by restarting(by holding the top button fir long enough time) the phone. It had to be done by getting the sim out and put it back.
What my friend told me was that this is an iOS 6.1.2 problem.

Feb 27, 2013 1:19 AM in response to NoMoreNameToUseby Nez128,I have this same problem since the 6.1.2 update. I get the 'No Sim' error at random intervals. The only way to restore service is to reboot the phone. Not good. I have reset the phone and the network settings but it is still happening. Not happy about this at all. I had no problems until the 6.1.2 update.
I totally agree that this is a 6.1.2 issue.

Mar 31, 2013 8:16 AM in response to Interface7by rabbitjetta,Take the SIM card out and clean the car and blow compressed air in the sim slot. Also try a restore and if that doesn't work apple should replace it under the 1 year warranty.

Apr 6, 2013 6:52 AM in response to Interface7by fossilfang,All those suggestions are a no-go for me.. tried cleaning it, tried the tape trick, even had Verizon give me a new SIM. Same issue, I'm convinced it's the phone.

Apr 19, 2013 6:20 AM in response to Interface7by tresonze,How unfortunate all this!
I mean, really, can I ever have a phone that doesn't have a problem with it?
So dificult to deal with new technologies.
Mine worked fine when I put it in and then after a few hours got the "No SIM" alert.
I restarted, took the chip in and out several times and then it came back out of no where.
After a few hours, again, same problem without even touching the sim card slot.
I have put it in and out several times again, restarted and nothing.
So unfortunate. Will look into getting a new SIM card and return with possible help.

May 10, 2013 1:49 PM in response to Interface7by Polxosha,Just took a call, hung up, and the dreaded "No SIM Card Installed" message popped up! Rebooting the phone "fixes" the problem. It bothers me that I can't rely on my phone to receive calls without me compulsively checking it every few minutes to make sure the SIM Card is recognized!!!
