iPhone5 bluetooth not working

hold down the power button and the + button on right ear piece until you get a solid blue light. This will erase all previous pairings. Go back into your iphone5 and try to pair again. This worked for me.

My Iphone 5 will not automatically connect to me car (2012 Subaru Imprezza). Everytime I drive, I need to hit the "not connected" on the bluetooth setting everytime. I've erased all bluetooth devices on both my car and phone and re-paired as suggested by a Genius, but this doesn't help. Is there an advanced bluetooth settings that I don't know about on the phone (I've searched on the net, but couldn't find anything) or is my phone defective? This is becoming a real big problem for me. Thanks for any advice.

I am having the same problem. The iphone5 won't connect to my 2011 Honda Pilot via Bluetooth. I have called Apple and I even visited the store today. No help at all. I have even restored the phone. My iPhone 4 worked perfectly. Has anyone had luck getting a response from Apple at all?

Did u update to 6.0.1? After update, remove your car from the Bluetooth list. Remove your iPhone from the car. Repair.if your car gives u a code to enter, make sure u do so.

I was able to get my iPhone 5 to pair with my 2012 Honda Civic. This is what I did:

1- Deleted the old phone

2- Paired the new phone

I think the problem may have been related to the fact that both phones had the same name (the default name "iPhone," seen in the sidebar of iTunes). Before deleting the old phone, I would try to connect the new one under the name "iPhone," but it would fail.

Having same issues with my car, 2011 Infiniti. Removed old iPhone from car bluetooth and still no luck.

Tried it with my wife's car, 2010 Audi, same thing.

Re-paired both with her iPhone 4, absolutely no problem.

Called Infinti, they said it's an Apple problem and they're waiting for an update.

Called Audi, they also said it's an Apple problem and they are aware of it.

Called Apple and they said 'contact your car dealer.

So bloody frustrated.

I have a 2012 Honda Civic EX that uses Hands Free Link. My problem was that both my car AND my iPhone 5 were not finding each other, no matter how long I was making both discoverable. The key was, like someone had said before, was to delete the old phone from the car. On my car, first you have to be in park, then when you press phone and it asks if you'd like to connect a phone with the car, press no. Then you'll get sort of a settings menu, scroll all the way to the bottom and it should say something along the lines of clearing the system.That's what you want to press. After the system has been cleared, go to connect the phone. I don't know if the order of which you did it had a role in things, but I made my car discoverable first, then my iPhone 5. The car showed up on my iPhone 5 and in turn, my iPhone 5 showed up in my car. I connected via my car first, and then also hit connect on my iPhone 5 as well and voila! I also changed the name of my iPhone 5 as I restored it from backup for good measure, I don't know if this really played a role in anything either, but I would assume not considering that the old iPhone 4 has been cleared from the car's system. It connects every time I get in the car, so no issue there. I hoped that helped some people out!

Hi! So what you mean is that im never going to be able to connect it to my mac via bluetooh? Really? (im having trouble pairing those two!)

Just to add some confusion I have an ipad mini and iphone 4 and macbook pro. I had to turn off location services and siri on my ipad and iphone and then both devices picked up my macbook (first device either has been able to discover) but still wouldn't find each other. I download bluetooth photoshare app and both my ipad and iphone are able to pair. As soon as the app closes they cannot see each other again. In my ipad blutetooth settings I saw my iphone briefly just after I closed photoshare then it disappeared. Very strange. I was going to use bluetooth in order to tether my ipad from my iphone but have literally given up now.

You haven't really added any confusion. Applications can use the included PAN (Personal Area Network) Bluetooth profile to play games, exchange photos, etc. When you stop using the app the PAN ends as designed. Nothing strange about it. The PAN profile is also used for tethering with you can set up through your hotspot settings on your iPhone but you are far better off using WiFi to tether due to its longer range, higher speed and less potential for interference.

**FOR SUBARU OWNERS HAVING PROBLEMS**

I think I have fixed the issue with my iPhone5 and my '12 Subaru WRX. Hopefully it works for you.

I was having the same problem as some of you, which was that I paired the iPhone5 and it wouldn't auto connect each time I started up the car. I had to manually go into the iPhone and select the CAR_M_MEDIA selection in order for it to connect. The iPhone4 was working flawlessly each and every time.

I found that if I paired the Bluetooth audio AND the Hands Free separately it connects each time I start up the car. Here are the steps.

1. Go into the Bluetooth Audio portion and delete your old phone pairing by hitting the 'Menu' button on the stereo under the BT-A setup. Use the Subaru instruction manual for help, if needed.

2. 'Forget' the pairing on the iPhone5 labeled 'CAR_M_MEDIA'.

3. Pair your iPhone5 again to the car.

4. Exit the bluetooth audio portion on the car stereo.

5. Hit the 'talk' button on the steering wheel for the hands free audio menu and go into phone setup.

6. Remove the existing phone pairing, if needed. Use the Subaru instruction manual for assistance.

7. Set up a new phone in the hands free system, which requires pairing the iPhone5 again, just as in the previous steps.

I think the issue is that these two pairings are considered separate and so the stereo is still looking for the old phone to auto connect for the hands free system ....but who really knows.

Once I did these steps I have shut off the car, started it back up, and each time the phone has paired correctly. Hopefully this works for you.

I can't espresso how much I love you for this simple fix no one else at apple or Subaru could give me. Thank you. I thought pairing them either way paired them in the same source.

For my Infiniti 2011 Iphone 3GS worked like charm. Now I'm having iphone 5 call drops each time somebody calls. Deleted and added phone several times - no results. Apple should stop ignoring the problem and fix it. I'm planning to return the phone, and go back to my old iphone 3GS.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 5 - iOS 6.0.1 : it can't locate or pair any devices at all. but now it is fixed.

What I did?

i went to apple store and queried about this issue - they pair it with their Bluetooth Keyboard and after that my iPhone started to locating other devices. so it means it not a hardware problem. i think it only needs waking it up by means of activating it using other apple devices. i went to other stores in the mall and test my iPhone again, and now it can pair with most of the devices.

its worth trying it - that could be the same fix we're all looking for.
