    Mine is working....

Equipment:  iPhone 4S running iOS6, 2012 Lincoln MKZ with most up-to-date version of Ford's Sync (first generation, NOT My Lincoln Touch).  Carrier is Verizon.

I tried the iPhone Maps Turn-by-Turn directions on my way to the office today.  I had to set the car's input source to Bluetooth.  The turn by turn directions from the phone played over the speakers in the car.  I deliberately chose not to follow the spoken directions to see how the maps app would respond.  It does not say "Recalculating".  It simply revises the route on the fly.

I then tried adding Bluetooth streaming audio to the mix (e.g., Bluetooth streaming of an audio file and the maps function simultaneously).  I chose a podcast, which played over the Bluetooth.  When a map direction came up, the podcast volume was reduced a bit, and the map voice (Siri) spoke the next directional move.  After Siri was finished, the podcast volume returned to the original leve.  Very cool.

Can't do texts, though.  iOS 6 seems to want to connect, because I can access the text menus on the car's display.  However, there appears to be a disconnect between the phone and the car since I cannot send or receive text on the car's display.

The problem that my iphone 5 bluetooth would not automatically connect to my 2006 BMW just disappeared. Now it auto connect within 10 seconds of starting the car. Maybe it's because I turned on electrical power without starting the engine yesterday, however yesterday I was able to pair and do connect manually.

I have the same headphones (Plantronics 903+). Luckily, I keep the intructions in the mesh baggie and realized I needed to hold the power button after it turns on for an additional 2-3 seconds and then it will pair with the 5. Hope that helps.

Hi everyone, I think I may have fixed the issue with the iPhone 5 not automatically connecting to the car. It may be different for other vehicles, but this worked for me. I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza with the B-Type audio unit.

First, make sure that your new iPhone5 does not have the same name as your old phone. If, like me, you used an iTunes backup to restore your settings, it would have changed the name on the new phone to match the old one. Change it to something else. I'm not sure if this actually matters or not, but I did it.

Second, on your phone, go into the Bluetooth settings, go into the device for the vehicle, and hit "Forget this device" so that your phone doesn't have any connection to your car.

Next, don't go through to manual pairing process by hitting the Menu button and pairing the phone. Hit your hands-free button, and go through the menus to find the Setup / Initialize section. This will wipe out any hands-free settings you've got, including your phonebook (in the car, the contacts on your phone will be fine.) Once that's done, it will prompt you to pair the phone. From here, I'm sure you know what you're doing, because like me, you've probably done it 50 times to get this fixed.

Once it's properly paired, turn the car off, let it sit for a minute, and turn it back on. Presto! Automatic connection to your phone.

Like I said, this worked for me with my car. The settings for other cars and other head units may be different, or you may not have the hands-free package that lets you do this. I hope this helps a few of you, and hopefully it stays fixed for me.

I posted this fix a while back for my 2012 WRX but i didnt have an issues with back ups being restored to the phone.  Have you tried this method with an iphone 5 that was restored?

Yeah. My iPhone5 has never been anything but a restored-from-backup phone. The only part of the backup/restore process that I was thinking could be linked to the Bluetooth issue was the name of the phone itself, because the head unit stores that name in it's settings. My thought process was that if you had an entry in there for your iPhone 4 and it's name was "My iPhone" and then you got an iPhone5 and restored it from your iPhone4's backup, then your iPhone5 would also be named "My iPhone" and the car may not recognize the difference between the two.

Like I said though, I'm not sure that the name has anything to do with the fix working for me. I'm pretty sure that the "Intitialize" part is what fixed it.

I also have a 2011 Mazda3 and my iphone 5 isn't working with bluetooth on that. I tried to get it to connect to my laptop and it's not working either. I am going to be really ****** if they don't fix the bluetooth issue. I'm always in my car and bluetooth is a life saver. I really need it for calls and music.

I got it to work on my Mazda3. I hadn't changed the name of my iphone 4 via iTunes so I went there and restored my iphone 4 to factory settings which completely erased it and then went into the Mazda and deleted all devises from the car. I couldn't connect it until I used the voice function on the Mazda. I said "Device" and then it prompted me to connect my iphone 5. I followed the instructions and was able to connect it seemlessly! Works really well from what I can tell.

I switched the old iphone cradle for my MB E320 CDI from the iphone4/BT cradle to the plain MB-BT-cradle and now everything is fine for me. The iphone 5 paired and driving and talking is as expected.

Since I don't own a Nissan, I can only suggest you read your car's owner manual or call Nissan Tech Support directly.

I just got my new phones yesterday.  Both phones paired with the first try on our Mercedes E350's.  Here is what I did:

    1.  Go to phone settings on the Mercedes head unit.

    2.  Forget the previous phone

    3.  Turn Bluetooth on the new iPhone 5

    4.  Choose discover on the Mercedes

    5.  Mercedes found my phone

    6.  Choose pair on the car (not the phone)

    7.  Mercedes showed a numercial code

    8.  Numerical code was displayed on iPhone, matching code displayed by Mercedes

    9.  Accept the code

10.Voila, car and phone are paired, contacts downloaded

I was unable to connect my ip5 to my ipad with BT, it just kept on searching, what i found was i also had to turn on personal hotspot as well as BT.

It seems like the IP5 will only show devices it can attach to, which is why people are having to put their BT gear in discover mode, and my ipad didnt show up until my ip5 could 'see' there was a data connection it could use.

it used to just show all BT devices and you could try and connect, but now it's being picky :/
