If you mean Internet Explorer, run it through CrossOver Mac, VirtualBox, or similar software. The Mac OS X version of IE won't run in Lion and is years out of date.
If you mean Windows Explorer, use the Finder or check places such as MacUpdate or the Mac App Store for alternatives.

Hello Niel,
Can I install standard Windows Explorer software on my iMAC ?
I only need the Windowas Eplorer for specific web sites. What are my options ?
Thks,
Izik
For that purpose, see the Internet Explorer section above. The Windows Explorer is a file manager, not a web browser.

muCommander is kinda like total commander which is a pretty popular file explore for windows too
I need, of course, Microsoft Internet Explorer, not a file manager tool.
I need it for infrequent browsing of those web sites.
The question is, for iMAC with Mountain Lion OS, what do I need ?
Should I install Windows 7 on my external hard=drive ?
Isaac
Usually users partition the the internal hard drive into two partitions using the inlcuded "Disk Utility" in OS X to then install Apple's "Bootcamp", and then install Windows 7, if that's what you want, so they can use IE there. Booting off and using an external hard drive can be very slow.
Hope this helps 🙂
You have several options for viewing itinerant old and poorly coded web sites that insist on Ie.
Option A Acitvate the hidden develop menu in Safari as this includes a function called User Agent switching such that you can make the browser appear to be Ie
Click on the Safari name in menu bar scroll down to Preferences and click to launch the window panel .
Choose advanced in the tabs (right of list)
In window that opens tick the box at the bottom to show develop menu.
This adds an extra menu item at the top of your screen.
Click on that and choose User agent and in pull down menu that appears you can reset your browser to appear to any connected web sites as Ie (a variety of versions) difering Safari versions including mobile .
Option B Install a version of Firebox these are able to mimic Ie on many sites
Option C Install a Virtual Machine Engine such as Parallels, VM Fusion (both cost money to buy) or the free Virtualbox ( can be slow) and purchase a legitimate copy of Windows XP Vista or 7 and install that within the Virtual Machine engine.
This will allow you to run Ie within the VM whilst booted into Osx at the same time.
Option D launch Bootcamp from the utilities folder to partition your hard drive and then load a Windows install disc either Windows 7 or Vista are supported and install this. On completion you have a fully functional Windows PC on a separate partition and with a few extra steps the ability to Boot to either Os.
When running your Windows Version you have a Fu l l Ie experience and you MUST. Make sure you have anti virus security software just as any other PC installed with Windows.
NB. THIS OPTION MEANS YOU CAN NOT SEE YOUR MAC DRIVE or use its software at the same time.
Using a Virtual Machine route is far better if you only need to do a few things in Windows.
The last version of ie was 5.1 and was a Power PC programme and it's about 7 + years since last updated.
MAny thanks for the comprehnsive & user friendly asnwer !
