Q: Anyone else have flickering/ghosting keyboard on iphone 5?

When I enter my password in the app store, lines begin to flicker across rows of the keyboard.

Here is an example. This has happened on my last two visits to the app store. The first two or three times there was no problem.  This is the only context in which I observe the flickering keyboard. Is anyone else having this issue?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Same problem here -- usually with entering password in the App Store.  My initial reaction is it looks like what you get when your video card is about to go bad.  We have three days left to return the phone to Verizon with no questions asked, but there's a $35 restocking fee and no guarantee of a new phone for another month.  I'm hoping its a software issue and we won't need to return anything.

Definitely a software bug had it happen on my iPhone 5 and then a replacement phone, definitely fixable through software upgrade

Yup... Apple ID password. Not always, but very frequently.

I Have the same problem on my iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S after it upgraded to iOS 5.  So it could also be a software problem.

I'm experiencing the same, but infrequent issue, with a flickering line across the top row of the keyboard on my iPhone 5 when I enter my password in the iTunes Store. Slightly irritating but good to know its a software bug and not a fault with the screen itself. I'm sure a fix will be along soon to what is, in all other respects, a simply incredible device!

To the guy suggesting taking a screenshot: some of us have tried that already and mentioned it in this thread. The shot is clear, but it's not apparent whether this is due to the fact(?) that screenshot-creation process triggers a refresh before it copies the image to a file.

I think that Apple should acknowledge this issue now. This thread makes it fairly certain that this is a widespread issue which is common enough for a good number of posters to have experienced it on replacement phones. I can see why they would want to be very thorough before making a public statement on this, but if they have not yet managed to reproduce this, analyse and diagnose it then there is something very wrong with their quality assurance processes. All it needs is some kind of official statement on whether those of us having the issue should be seeking replacments now, waiting for a software update, or waiting for a future hardware fix.

I can't see Apple making any public statements about this, it's not the way they roll. As much as there are possibly hundreds of people commenting on the communities there are probably hundreds of thousands of people experiencing the issue in the wild. Apple are likely to be working on this already along with other bugs which are being experienced by other users of iOS6 on the iPhone 5.

I can only recall (which is not to say it hasn't happened other times) Apple publicly "acknowledging" issues with phones once in the past ("Antennagate"). That was off the back of multiple press outlets around the world and the general tech press all showing off the issue in a very public way and showing the signal drop could be replicated on many, if not all, iPhone 4 handsets they could get a hold of. Thisscreen flickering issue, though present on many peoples phones, may not have the level of publicity which Apple deem necessary to publicly address.

I don't think this is Apple being mean, I simply believe it's something they may already have dealt with and for which a software fix will be released. I'm comfortable with the issue at the moment. If after the first fix/patch comes out the issue still exists I may be of a different mind.

*This is all conjecture and opinion*

Yes, the antenna thing was one example. They also acknowledged battery issues with the 4S shortly after its release, and tried (largely unsuccessfully) to fix these up with software updates. I was hit with both these issues on the 4 and 4S I owned. I am disappointed that this is now 3 for 3 in new Apple phone issues for me; makes me feel foolish for buying Apple.

I get exactly the same issue, just noticed it so thought I'd hit Google and found this thread.

Same for me. Appears to only happen when the prompt for apple ID is up and waiting for keyboard input.

In response to businessinsider.com picking up the flickering keyboard story, so Apple can start working on it... Or at least provide explanation so I know it wont get worse? Or something.
