Sep 27, 2012 1:15 AM in response to superafimby akipapa,That makes sense, but even it is a hardware issue, it might be triggered by some software factors.
I think that it is possible Apple make an update to tell iOS "don't touch the trigger!".
For now, I am afraid we can't get a perfect replacement from apple store. Almost all users around me are having this issue, so I think it could be very universal.

Sep 27, 2012 1:23 AM in response to akipapaby superafim,Yes; on the 'hardware' side we have the fact that this is only showing up on the iPhone 5, it seems, not earlier models also running IOS6. On the 'software' side we have the fact that it shows up overwhelmingly within a single overlay - although there are reports of it in other places occasionally incuding from me. I suppose it is likely a hardware/software interaction, and the only question is whether Apple can tweak that. Maybe we got A6 chips that were low down on the quality scale, with hard to detect flaws that only trigger in certain software contexts?

Sep 27, 2012 2:37 AM in response to samesenseby kermitss,Yeah I definitely think its software because it only happens on the dark keypad when entering my apple I'd and never happens on the light grey keyboard in SMS or safari if it was hardware it would be a screen fault and would happen with everything not just a keyboard

Sep 27, 2012 3:11 AM in response to kermitssby superafim,...but a pure software issue would occur on other devices, which this does not seem to do. Also, it happens outside that context, albeit rarely, and not - as you say - on other keyboards.

Sep 27, 2012 3:23 AM in response to superafimby iFrodo,Not necessarily. If it's a driver or other specific piece of software only targeted for the iPhone 5, it can be a software issue.
There have been in the past specific software issues on previous iPhone. The various iPhone models don't share the exact same software and have specific adjusments and drivers.

Sep 27, 2012 3:25 AM in response to samesenseby kermitss,Not really each iPhone weather it be the 4 4s and 5 has a slightly different version of iOS6 like the iPhone 4 with the new update does not have Siri. There is something with the iPhone 5 software that is causing it. If it was a hardware issue the screen should flicker and ghost when watching YouTube or looking at pics or even the home screen

Sep 27, 2012 5:11 AM in response to samesenseby wotsthestory,Whilst trying to install an App which failed initially (keep getting app install failures for no apparent reason), I went into the folder where the app was located and pressed to stop and then pressed to start install, as this has worked a couple of times. As soon as I pressed start the bottom of the folder window was flickering, literally on a pixel or two high but with three or for sections across the width. I've got a video form my Android phone :-)
EDIT: Just went to install Bad Piggies Flickering keyboard appeared again when asking for Password, captured on Video. Which again is struggling to install (on hi-speed broadband via Wi-Fi).

Sep 27, 2012 5:35 AM in response to samesenseby Jiwwy,On the point not being able to be software because its only happening on the iPhone 5 and not older devices with ios 6, the iPhone has a longer screen than the older phones, but with the same ios, so the thing that decides which screen size to use will be software, ie two versions of display in ios 6, long and short. The problem could be in the software, App Store, keyboard, large display keyboard?

Sep 27, 2012 6:25 AM in response to Jiwwyby williamfromquebec,Here's my observation so far !
1-Its only happening when entering password on app store or when the keyboard is using overlay/transparency
2-mine did it and stopped doing it after reboot
3-seem to be a software driver issue.
4- could be the new app store that is triggering the issue by using some kind of html5/webGL on the gpu driver
5-could be an app that everyone use that send a glitch to the gpu (future jailbreak hole ? lol)
6-if its hardware maybe they are related to foxconn riot....

Sep 27, 2012 6:33 AM in response to williamfromquebecby CuseGoyle,This happened to me one time when entering the password for the AppStore. I haven't seen it since. I'm going to keep my eyes open for it again and just hope it was a one time thing.
