Can not update 5.1.1 to 6.0 on factory unlocked iPhone 4S - An unknown error occurred (-1) (21)

I bought my iPhone 4S and just updated it normally. No Jailbreak, nothing. I was reading the error codes in the links zu sent me.

Should I install Redsnow? Will it help?

As I said before... the funny thing is that I can restore the iPhone always to 5.1.1 without any issues. Just the update doesnt work.

hmm. I installed redsnow. Now I am getting Error code 11.

I just found the update log file it creates when i try to update. (itunes is displaying errorcode 1) the last lines in the logfile are:

does this mean anything to anybody?

someone very competent @ Apple explained me that this is a hardware issue. the baseband can not be updated. the bbfw is the baseband firmware. It will not upgrade it to iOS6 for some reason

btw... the logfiles you can find in the following folder:

/Users/--/Library/Logs/iPhone Updater Logs

double click the last one and then scroll to the end. There should be some information...

I bought it new in October 2011. So Its nearly 1 year old. In any case I just made a Apple Care Protection plan for it. So I am on the safe side of things. :-)
