I've read the questions and answers about troubleshooting using real instruments. Ive got a Presonus firebox audio interface that seems to be connected just fine, b/c the levels on garage band jump when i strum the guitar and it even records the signal, but when I turn on monitoring, turn up all volume levels( on the box, master track, real instrument track, etc.) and playback what i have recorded there is absolutely no sound. I'm sure ive checked just about everything possible. I was told by someone that it could be that i need to update the software, but I have Tiger 10.4.6 so it should be current. if anyone has had this prob. plz gimme a shout. thanks.
Actually, I just realized that on the track settings the volume bar for the input is grey colored, meaning i cant click on it to drag it to the right as if it is not optional. However the symptoms to my original question are still the same. Maybe this will be more helpful.
All levels show that there is a signal. When going into Track info- where the microphone adjust level( that sits just above where you check monitoring on) is grey and cant be selected or adjusted- what could cause that not to be on, or activated? It seems being able to adjust that would solve the problem and give me some volume, but its dead. I cant figure out what would cause it. Any suggestion? I have Garage Band 2 by the way.
I am having exactly the same problem! So am watching this space. To get some sound I went into 'Preferences' in GBand and altered output to internal. I now can hear myself playing but it sounds as if I am at the end of a long tunnel. I still can't use the volume control in Track Info which is set at the far left (ie none).
