iPhone 5 battery draining very fast

I purchased my iPhone 5 64GB today, I used it for about 2 hours and a half. The battery was 98% when I purchased it. Is anyone having this difficulty as well? Please let me know....

Yes, mhabashy, I am seeing my battery drain very fast throughout the day. I drained it yesterday and fully charged it overnight and it's now below 21% 8 hours later and I've hardly used it. I make sure to closes the apps when I've finished and with similar use on my iPhone 4, I never encountered such a quick drain. Looking forward to hearing from others.

Background:

My phone used 1% every 2 minutes with mobile data turned on perfect with mobie data off just using wifi, could last for days like that. Started going haywire before ios7

Solution:

Went to apple and they did a diagnostic. They initially started to tell me usual crap about turning off this and that. I called BS and showed them a screen grab i took when i walked into the store 30min before and told them all apps were closed and phone just sat on the desk on standby yet it had a 15% drop in battery. He changed his tune and looked at diagnostic again for a while he then showed me two figgures that werent the same somewhere and said it indicated that there was a problem with the undertling code (or words to that effect). He did a complete wipe and i went home and setup as a new phone, manually adding everthing (he said not to restore from backup).

Its been a few months now and the phone has run faultless battery is back to normal easily lasting the day with lots of use and days on just standby.

Note:

I did this setup as a new phone before but it only worked for a few hours then went back to heavy battery use. This time though it stuck. Plus another guy at work had the same problem. Setting up as a new phone only worked for a few days for him. He is going to try again and se if it sticks.

This is kind of crazy but my iPhone 5 drops from 100% to 80% without using anything, turning off the background apps, location services and other stuff that usually drains the battery.

Now he turned off with just 20% of battery, so I did a battery calibration after that.

Today, when I was charging the phone, he went from 4% of battery to 20% in just 1 minute of charge...

Seriously, after so many compains, What's wrong with Apple? Are they losing all the premium quality that was so unique when compared to other brands...?

This phone is only 1 years old, so we can't even say that it's a faulty battery. I had two iPhone 4 and two 4S before this one and my daily usage it's exacly the same... so, it's obviously something wrong with the iPhone 5 or with the iOS7 power management.

Try this http://technotweet.com/tips-for-saving-battery-life-on-ios-7/ also best thing is to put your phone on airplane mode at least for 20 mins minimum and you'll see your battery last longer other thing brightness try manual brightness. Keep killing your battery then fully charging. My best advice when ever you can put your phone in airplane mode. Good luck

Thanks for the tips. but I follow that tips since ... ever. I even turn off the spotlight to make the iPhone stop indexing all the stuff...because I don't even use the spotlight (only for apps search).

There's a huge flaw with the iPhone 5 battery and I think it's software related because today, since I did a reset on the network settings, he's lasting longer than before... don't know why... but maybe he was using some kind of the iPhone 4S settings from my last backup.

Airplane mode it's totally unnaceptable. If I bought a phone, it's because I want to stay connected not only for my family but also for my job...

Apple need to fix this ASAP. And it would be great also a way to disable the parallax fx only (keeping all the animations). It's useless and probably it's bad for battery also...and a way to disable the 3G network too, instead of the 4G option only.

There is nothing for Apple to fix. There is a problem with YOUR PHONE. And I agree that the tips in that article just posted are 90% wrong. However, whatever is draining your battery is a local problem, a choice of apps, or buggy apps. With iOS 7 I get better battery life than I have had in the 6 1/2 years I've had an iPhone. For the first time in my life I don't have to charge it every day.

Experiencing slightly the same issues here !

While on 3G my iPhone acts extremely odd. I have noticed that there is a substancial drain in the battery up to 1% per a min while on 3G. As well, when my phone reaches out to 15% battery, it instantly dies. Therefore, last night I decided to do a standby-battery test - my phone was at 34% exactly with 3G on. Today when I walked up, it was again dead. So to sum up, - 34% battery on standby without touching the phone ? Is that normal at all ?!

Believe me this is not all. Today, while I was calling a friend of mine, my phone instantly switched off (61% battery). I tried to power it up but my efforts went in vein - the battery flicking image showed up suggesting that my battery was dead. I could not power up my phone for the last 2-3 hours when suddently it turned on. Well that's weird !

P.S. I can recall that before a week due to my drain, I turned off 3G for a while at 27% battery. 4 hours later, it was still at 27% with 1,5-2 constant usage, mainly browsing through the internet using Wi-Fi. I went back home and did a clean uninstall from DFU mode, and did not reinstalled all the apps assuming that there might be a rogue app. However, the problem was not solved.

I switched to 5S several weeks ago, and things seemed to be working well. Then, in the last day or two, I started having major battery issues (e.g., going from a 100% charge to a <10% in less than 3 hours with very minimal use). I haven't done anything different that I'm aware of (no new apps, no change in usage), so unless I accidently changed a setting somewhere, I'm confused as to why things would be so different so suddenly.

Any thoughts?
