iPhone 5 battery draining very fast

I purchased my iPhone 5 64GB today, I used it for about 2 hours and a half. The battery was 98% when I purchased it. Is anyone having this difficulty as well? Please let me know....

Yes, mhabashy, I am seeing my battery drain very fast throughout the day. I drained it yesterday and fully charged it overnight and it's now below 21% 8 hours later and I've hardly used it. I make sure to closes the apps when I've finished and with similar use on my iPhone 4, I never encountered such a quick drain. Looking forward to hearing from others.

The sim didn't do it. Drain continued just slightly slower. I tried turning off the battery percentage and that stopped the drain. The percentage itself is a bug in the ios. With percentage turned off I'm still at 75% (just an estimating because percent is off) at 4pm, where I'd usually be at 20%. I've tried other things so I'm not exactly sure that did it, but the battery gain did happen immediately after I turned percentage viewing off in the settings:general:usage.

Fantastic article!

I didn't see any specifics on Bluetooth and GPS. My son's both have the 5S and both bluetooth and GPS turn on if you allow location services within any App. I have the iPad mini with Cellular and when ever my battery starts draining too fast, it's the first thing I check. It is almost always my bluetooth turned on, and I never use it.

BlueTooth uses no power at all, unless you have a BlueTooth device actually connected. And then it uses only 3 MW. So it has no effect on battery life. GPS also uses no power on its own; it's just a radio receiver. However, if GPS is on it can trigger apps which might use power. You should NEVER turn GPS (Location Services) off; if it is off then Find my iPhone will not work. You can turn off the use of Location Services by individual apps if you don't want them to use it.

I have exactly the same problems with you guys. And one more. I have a problem connecting the charger to the iphone. I have to think like: hey what MacGyver would do if he had the same problem and try to charge it.And this happens twice per day. When the 3G is connected the battery sign turn to countdown mode. And lasts UP TO (as it says in the site) 1.30 hour. And all these after paying 700 euros to purchase it an after one year of usage (note: end of guarantee) and since it cant be fixed i have to spend another 300 euros in order for my carrier to replace it with an new one.....

The point is that there are so many users that have the similar problem and no one from apple cares. They keep being silent. They used to care about their customers but now......

If you are experiencing battery draining fast, (fast is, if your phone won't last for a day without charging) your iphone 5 is already defective, particularly the U2 IC. I just have mine replaced by a technician and it's back to normal of about 3 days, nice right? Cost is around $100, ouch!

You should have it replaced immediately if under warranty.

I am experiencing this 'battery draining fast' for a year now until it went totally dead.

An alternative solution is to use power banks so your iphone can last for a day.

I will try these ideas. Thanks!

But if I turn off my "find my iphone", doesn't that mean that if it's stolen, they won't be able to track it?

I also realized that dozens of apps were open. Is there a way to get the phone to turn off an app after a certain amount of time of non-use, or even when I turn the phone off at night? There are apps open I haven't used in a week!

I Won't go into why but last week I had the SIM card on my 6s plus changed and went from two day battery to less than 1/2 day. At first I didn think of the card so I tried every setting to see what might have changed or could be causing the change. After a few days I went back to the original card and immediately got my two days battery use back. I had no idea the SIM card could have any affect on the battery use.
