I'm enduring the pain that most of you are all suffering. My commute from home to office is a half hour, all i did was listen to a couple songs on Pandora replied to 2 texts; left my home at 96 % and arrived to the office with 76%. Significant battery drainage!

I work across the street from the  Apple Store in Grand Central Station, New York City. I took every measure possible before attempting to run a diagnostic check; modified settings, restored to factory settings, etc. (typical Apple Protocol)

I inquired about the battery issue before seeing my "genius" to another customer service rep, and he adamanltly stood behind the product as he's watching before his eyes that my battery dropped 4% in a matter of 10 mins without using it!

Ultimately they ran tests and everything was "normal", and was instructed to go through the day to see if the problem still persists. which it is!

Very disappointed Apple, please FIX THIS ASAP!

Guys I think what I did helped a lot. Go to settings--iCloud-- turn off safari and passbook restart your phones. That helped mine a lot. I think it's a software bug that keeps safari syncing.

Hi again, I finally had enough so went to apple store and within 10 mins I had a new phone. I now have no issues at all.

My battery was draining super fast and my wifi wouldn't connect.

    Very happy NOW.

Some iPhone 5s came with a good battery, my wife's iPhone is the same, she has a white one that the battery works, I have a black one that drains like crazy.

I am suffering the same issues with battery drainage! Ugh its so annoying, so I am going

to do what a lot of people are doing and just restore as NEW and not a backup, I will do that tonight

and hope that should fix the issue. If not I will have to make a genius appointment which I dont wanna do.

Dissapointing product launches from Apple...suffered through antenna issues with 4, battery issues with 4S (before the patch was released) and now this...seems like the quality is not there like it used to. Makes me think

twice before buying anymore apple products...

    My phone, iPhone 5 just to be clear, was charged to 100%. After 1 hour I showed;

    Standby - 1 Hour, 0 minutes

Usage - 48 minutes (playing with settings, email, Twitter mostly. Wifi turned off. No games)

The battery was at 90%. So 10% in an hour. Just wondering if this is anywhere near normal? I have not turned off anything like notifications or location services. Just how I use my phone normally.

It just seems like I won't get any better use than I was with my 4S...

Thnx for the help guys... Was able to do the Restore and sync back contacts, apps and music through itunes w/o doing a backup.  I'm charged at 100% now, turned off push for mail, icloud is off and removed all but messages and mail from notificaiton center.

I'm going to let it drain completely today and hopefully tomorrow will be a new day and this worked!  If not, Apple store Saturday for a new one!

I'll keep ya posted... thnx again for the help!

I'm finding my battery drainage is actually approaching normal levels the longer I have it... Strange.

mfritter, I too did a restore and syn back the contacts and apps through itunes. It's only been a couple hrs but am not seeing the draining I did before, I'm hoping this fixed the issue. The restore went much quicker then when I first set up my new iphone, so thinking something was going on that maybe caused the issue, it took hours.

I think the battery is smaller than the iPhone 4. I see iPhone 5 draining faster and usb charging seems faster than on an iPhone 4. So the capacity might be smaller than advertised.

Exactly 1 hour phone call dropped my percentage by 15%.  That equals only 6.5 hours of talk time... not 8 and I didn't have wifi enabled while on the phone... Still doesn't seem right...  Maybe a complete discharge of the battery will help. (sigh)

I just restored my iPhone 5 as a new iPhone and somehow the battery is holding up pretty good.

The issue starts when I restore from backup, there is definitively somethign wrong with iOS 6, many bugs, they should have hold before releasing it...

    So freggin dissapointing.

Using iPhone 5. Bluetooth off Wifi off.

I had battery draining issues. With little use (I can't have my phone at my desk at work) my battery was dead in about 9 hours. So maybe 2 hours actual use tops.

I went to the apple store and they replaced it and the new phone I got is even worse. Down 10% in 15 minutes of use just looking at twitter and sending a few texts.

I restored from backup the first time and the new phone they had me treat it like a new iPhone which was really annoying because i had to redo all my settings and lost some of my info I had in my backup.

I am going to see how things go over the weekend but if it still is bad I guess I will be making another trip to the apple store.

I put my iphone 5 into DFU mode and did a total restore from my back up, this seems to be helping so far. i will update after a full day. FYI was having the same issue of very quick battery loss with very minimal use.

  • sdmcgowan Level 1 Level 1

From 100% my phone went to 10% with 4hours 0 minutes of usage. It's mostly internet usage. So I should be getting basically double that. The Applecare person emailed me a link of technical specs and battery life tips as a fix. L.O.L.

I did set up my phone from a backup, and I understand I should restore it from new as the next step to see if helps? I'm very hesitant to restore as new because I don't want to lose the pictures from my camera roll. 3,500 of them. Yes they are backed up. But I want them in my camera roll.

So my question to anyone here is would it help to even try again to restore my phone from a backup or do I really really need to restore as new to go on???
